Mcintosh Amp repair

Gents - (forgive the cross post):
Somehow my Mcintosh amp stopped working. The rest of the system is fine, so definitely isolated to the amp.
Not sure if anyone knows someone who repairs them?
Alternatively, if anyone has a spare they would sell, please let me know

Long shot, but McIntosh is still in business, maybe call them, and see if they have an authorized service center?

I think capacitors go bad from non-use, and/or instant charge like old tubes.

Unfortunately, doesn't get used nearly as much as the car. have 22k miles or so on the GT. a lightweight compared to many here though

Caps do age out, whether used or not. And if you get it serviced, be sure they spray contact cleaner/lube into the switches and rotary controls.

Just having a problem with the amp, not the head unit. I don't think there are any controls on it.

So if capacitors seem to be a common problem.... I have had caps short internally and actually blow them open. Look closely at all the electronic components. A resistor or cap often times will look discolored or burnt or otherwise different, if bad. If so, replace it, easy to do. Sometimes you get lucky.

JaxGT: there’s also a fan in the woofer/amp unit. That frequently makes noise with age. Do your best to lube it while you’re in there.
