I was at a live performance many many years ago, early seventies, and when the show was over, my ribs actually hurt from laughing so long and hard. I had no idea how funny Johnny Carson could be in person. Doc Severinsen also performed and made music from his trumpet that was just incredible.

There will never, EVER be another like him. The age of PREMIMUM late night T.V. entertainment, for all intents and purposes, ended the night he left.

I really miss watching him & Ed do their thing. Those two were something to behold when they got started! 'Sooooooooo many great memories...

We didn't get to see Carson much in the UK - but Dom deLuise was much loved.

Seemed like Carson was the 'daddy' of the chat show, led the way for Leno and the new (ish) crowd.
