Are OEM replacements no longer available or is there some distinct advantage? Doesn't appear as though it would fit very well.

Rex I have got a Meziere pump on my car and its a pretty easy pump to mount and make work and its a little better than the ford piece. About the same price tho.

The OEM units are still available. I have run a few through my car. I tried out the big meziere with less then stellar results so I use the factory unit concurrently.

Which pump? im using the big pump with -20 in and twin 16 out. I use one out. I'm going to take a stock pump off a car in my shop and flow them both up a 12 foot pipe and see how they compare. The ford pump is very good!
