I think Ray is testing that right now :biggrin

When we were in Indy and talked with the boys from the Romeo plant they did say "stock bottom end and stock fuel delivery is good up to 1000hp - just keep it under 6500RPM"

The block won't warp until you're over 1400 hp.

I doubt there'll ever be a time in history at which we can't count the number of GT's that attempt this on our hands.

If your drive like Pockets, the bottom end can take unlimited power! :lol

Ft-Lb Rating Bottom End

I had heard rumors the bottom end could handle close to 2,000 ft-lbs, but that seems a little high as I think about it.

did Joe Piko ever break something on his bottom end or did he build it up just to be on the safe side?

I think he was over 1,400 rwhp at the time and then was adding a shot on top of that.

There was a forging problemm in that crank that failed - not the engine's or drivers fault. Car is still the same w/ over 1,250 capable of going over 1,450! It does have:
- Carrillo Rods, CP Pistons 9:0.1
Fuel Syestem is:
- 4 in-tank fuel pumps
- 2 stock pumps
- 2, 342 lph pumps
- 2, pumps per fuel rail
- Custom Fuel rails are
- 8an fuel feed lines from
-16, 63lb Precision Fuel

Peak Performance:
- Horsepower: 1,453 WHP
- Torque: 1,250 WTQ

You thinking about going for the record?

Nah Im just curious for the future. Im aiming for 1000rw or maybe close to what Torrie has.

But Im wondering if you could get 1250-1300 by just doing heads, fuel, etc and not touching the bottom end. That would be pretty incredible. I cant think of another car that can handle that kind of power on a stock bottom end.

The major thing stopping me is the life expectancy graph. I rode in Joe's car once. I guess you wouldn't feel it if things went wrong.

1000-1100 is do-able. Beyond that the life expectancy degrades at a much faster rate. Just depends on how long you want to or not want to bank on a full bottom end.

so at that point you would do pistons, rods, and a cryotreated crank?

maybe valve springs/retainers?

That would be the safe bet.
