How many Cars have you owned? What were they, and do you remember them all?

For years, I've thought about starting his thread...and finally have the guts to do so...

I know I'm on the bottom of the list (for when I like a car, I keep it and drive it) -

I'll start it out -

1) 1930 Chevrolet, 4-door Sedan, 1958-1962
2) 1955 Austin-Healey 100, 1959-1962
3) 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII, 1963-1966 (hated it - never should have sold the '55 100, or the '30 Chevrolet for that matter)
4) 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2, 1966-Present (currently 227K miles)
5) 1979 Chevrolet LUV 4X4 Truck, 1979-2004 (Wore it out 'til there was a hole in the floorboard; took it to the landfill after 244K miles)
6) 1989 GMC K3500 4X4 Truck. 1989-Present (currently 340K miles)
7) 2005 Ford GT, 2005-Present (currently 76K miles)

and,

8) 1972 Honda CL-350 Scrambler Motorcycle, 1972-Present

That's it, for me...

A while back I sat down with some friends and we did a total count and list of the cars I had owned. We did it only on the US cars - as that was what was in question at the time - and I have have ever since continued updating that list :wink:facepalm:

Just a short background ..... My US car "enthusiasm" was sparked at age 10 when my family did a 6 months roadtrip across 23 states back in 1975-76. The fire became "un controllable" when I was lucky to do a year in Dallas High School as a Rotary Exchange student back in 83-84 and all hell broke loose when I started to make enough to buy my very first US car .... a show condition - street machine style 66 Mustang convertible back in 1989 .... :biggrin:facepalm:

The list as of today counts a total of 109 US cars! :eek

Everything from a Ford GT, 66+67+69 Shelby GT350s, 70 Challenger T/A, 93 GMC Typhoon, 98 Saleen S351 speedster, 66 427 Corvette roadster to 61 Fairlane 4 door and 1946 Chevy COE truck are on the list. And then of course more Mustangs than you can count - both street and race cars .

Some statistics: 55 of these 109 cars I have personally imported from the US. 67% of all my cars have been Fords :wink:thumbsup

But I am in therapy now - and doing much better :biggrin:rofl

:cheers

Ralphie,

As an automobile dealer for 20 years my total would probably be in excess of 30,000 cars that I've owned. Cars and trucks that I've personally driven to work and used for a few weeks or months would still be several hundred. I currently have 8 motorcycles, 8 cars, one boat, and one airplane in my stable. I have cut down to one woman however.

Must admit that many cars were just bought just for the thrill of collecting. I very rarely have a driver for more than 6 months before I get bored. Only cars I can´t see myself selling are a 1968 Mustang ht fully built as a FIA legal Trans Am race street car - have built on that car for 10 years and have more cash tied up in that thing than I care to remember :wink The FR500S that I bought from Gino is also on the "never sell" list.

In past years I have had less time to use the cars - and that´s why my focus have shiftet towards fewer cars that I can just play with.

Copenhagen GT. I agree on the FR500!

Too many to count, mostly fords, 13 at the present and still not close to Ben Beckert. He now has three GT's. But keepers, a Kit Cobra I built from scratch (Lone Star) and the 2005 FR500. The Fr500 from Rehagen Racing is more car than I am driver!

This is fun. The early cars were hand-me-downs. There may be something else in there, but nothing worth noting. Between college and law school, didn't really have the need or money for anything special.

Honda Spree
1984 oldsmobile cutlass supreme
1987 Mazda 626 LX
1989 oldsmobile cutlass supreme
2002 Ford Explorer
2007 Mustang GT
1971 Mach 1
Supercharged Factory 5 Cobra (traded for Ford GT)
1968 GTD GT40 (traded for Ford GT)
2005 Ford GT
2011 Range Rover Sport

I think make up for the hand-me-downs with the FGT. Still looking for another Honda Spree to drive around my community, that thing was fun. I know, I know.

It was fun digging through the memory bank to recite this list, each one has its own memories a corresponds to a different stage in life:

1. 1986 Ford F-150 (I think I walked more than I drove thanks to ignition modules and the 5.5mm retainer bolt)
2. 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (the golden years of screwdriver ignition keys, stolen twice in 12 months, must have never been a GM strong point) - sold/died
3. 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS (1st attempt at a sensible DD for fuel economy) - sold
4. 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (1st abandonment of sensible DD) - sold
5. 1998 Ford F-150 Roush Package (still a favorite) - sold
6. 2000 Toyota Camry LE (2nd attempt at a sensible DD for fuel economy) - sold
7. 2002 Ford F-150 (2nd abandonment of sensible DD) - sold
8. 2006 Infiniti G35 - sold
9. 2007 Porsche 997 C2S (only car I regret selling) - sold
10. 2005 Ford GT (the keeper)
11. 2012 Mercedes E63 (last MB I will ever own, 5 shop visits in 12 months and a dealer that was more interested in trying to convince me that it needed $5,500 brake job that wasn't required in lieu of fixing root problems, makes Ferrari look reliable and service friendly) - sold
12. 2008 Ferrari Scuderia (steering like the 997, power approaching the stock GT, out-of-this-world box, all better with an x-pipe)
13. 2014 Porsche Cayenne GTS (the family truckster)

1. 1963 Ford Falcon Futura convertible. Bucket seats, 170 cu in six, 101 hp, two speed Ford-O-Matic. Babes in high school liked it. Wrecked it with five other kids in the car three days before my 17th birthday.

2. 1966 Ford Mustang hardtop, 289/210 4V, 4-speed. Sweet.

3. 1961 Chevrolet Corvair, two speed Powerglide. Bought it for $75 in 1971. Drove it from San Francisco to Connecticut and back (a few issues along the way). Sold it for $125. Best investment until the GT.

4. 1965 Ford Mustang hardtop, HiPo 289, 271 hp, 4-speed. Really sweet. Became an expert valve adjuster. Ex-wife wrecked it.

5. 1965 Dodge Dart, 225 slant six, TorqueFlite. Ex state of California car. Bought with almost 100K miles and drove it another 100k miles.

6. 1971 Plymouth Duster. Slant six, TorqueFlite. Another one I drove forever. Wouldn't dust. Got dusted.

7. 1981 Honda Civic wagon. Well, you know, those were hard times. The same dealer was selling Cadillac Cimmarons for shit's sake. My best recollection was taking it to watch the space shuttle Challenger touch down at Edwards AFB. Took it to Germany and the transmission blew up on the Autobahn. I remember negotiating with a German junk yard dealer for a tranny.

8. 1981 BMW 528i, 4-speed, Euro car in Germany. F*@k yeah!

9. 1991 Mazda Miata, 5-speed. Bought four months old in Germany. Still own it. 106k miles.

10. 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon, auto. 140 mph. Routinely dusted MBs and Beemers on the Autobahn. Donated to charity at 200k miles.

11. 2008 Volvo V70 wagon, auto. Nice cruiser. No lust.

12. 2011 Nissan Xterra 4wd, 6-speed. 3" lift, 33s, full skids, sliders, Warn winch. My Zombie Apocalypse rig. Rescues stuck Jeeps.

13. 2013 VW Touareg TDI, auto. 406 ft/lbs and 8-speed auto? Eff yeah. Zero defects. My tow rig for the GT. 20k miles and 12k of those miles were towing the GT around the country.

14. 2006 Ford GT. The One. Bought two years ago with 3k miles. 16k miles today.

I haven't owned a lot of cars for an old fart. I tend to fall in love and not know how to say good bye.
