How long was the 'drag on' straight run at NOLA?

Who knows how many feet it was to the red-flag 'time to seriously consider braking' cones. I'm trying to figure out what part of a mile we had before jumping on the binders. Redeemed

I'd like to know that too. My estimate (not that I am any good at estimating) is about 3,500' acceleration zone and about 1,500' braking zone.

I asked Wes by email. Stay tuned.

Edit: Wes responded that he thinks my estimate is ballpark. It's 3,000' to turn 1 and, it seems to me the flags were about 500' past the turn.

So...zero to 170+ mph in 2/3 mile and about 22 seconds by my video cam. Not too shabby for easy-on-the-clutch starts!

so some one knows.........

Sorry, I was told they would place the cones at 3300 feet.

I was wondering how fast everybody got up to? My pulley/tune car only got to 167 - 171 according to my GPS. Am curious how the twin turbo or whipple cars did, I never got a good launch - poor driving

I hit the limiter in 4th and coasted across the last couple hundred feet. According to the GPS that was 182 mph. Didn't want to shift to 5th because it was a little lumpy there on the course. Probably set at about 800 hp.

Redline in 4th before the flags, then did not feel like aiming for 5th and in my excitement getting 3rd instead. That is 172 with stock diameter tires according to the gear chart.

I was disappointed nobody did any clutch dump starts. lol.
