How do you safely park your FGT?

I have found that virtually all adults respect the car, asking intelligent questions and seem proud that Ford made it.

On the other hand, their children can be a handful and have to be watched constantly.

Very true. Their KIDS, their DOGS, their STROLLERS, their HANDBAGS & BELT BUCKLES, THEIR DADGUM BICYCLES - you name it...:willy:willy:willy

Muh salts. Where are muh smellin' salts - and muh nitro pills...

And, of course, tazers are ILLEGAL in this part of the country...:mad

I agree with many of the posts .
I too am very careful and a bit (a lot really ) paranoid about where and how I park my gal.
I am very selective where I will take my gal and park her !
My wife refuses to let me take the car on vacation for fear it will ruin our trip due to me being so nervous about parking her overnight .
She than says can't we just take the 911!
Now I just say we'll take the GTr !

Parking Mayhem

I park just about anywhere. Carefully picking a position so that I can open driver's door fully. And no door dings in 4 years.

And only one time did someone from the bottom of the gene pool park when I couldn't get in. :thumbsdow At least the passenger door wasn't blocked that day!

...and FGT's seem to attract 'em like nails to magnets.:bang

My fully Shadowmanized FGT is dead gorgeous with NO dings on doors or anywhere! I drive it (6000+ miles) but I'm careful with where I leave it. How many of you routinely take 2 parking places at restaurants (not all places need or have valet option) and has anyone ever had 'revenge' or complaints about being so rude as to take 2 places? Yes I know taking it to restaurants may seem silly but my wife loves the car and likes a 20' evening trip to various watering holes in the area.

And how many of you worry about the rear clam vents drinking too much rain-water and would NEVER park outside if rain looks like a 50/50 bet?

I'm looking for reasons to NOT leave this puppy in the garage, but I also enjoy the clean perfect look. How many of you have acquired the occasional door ding and have matured to the level of not giving a rip!

Thanks for the various viewpoints.

I don't take it to restaurants, nor do I park it anywhere around other cars, only parkt it on FGT So Cal cruises before I let it even get near another automobile, and only FGTs

One thing is an absolute certainty for me--no matter how far I park any of my cars away from other cars, someone will park next to me.

The amazing thing is rarely is it someone interested in my car or trying to be obnoxious. It is usually someone in a minivan or the like. I think they are just drawn to a spot where someone else parked.

The harder you try to "protect it" the greater the chance something will happen. Just treat it like an ordinary car. Speaking from 38 years of driving.
Used to try that two spaces stuff......Many years ago I had an MB SL keyed on both sides parked at the FAR end of the mall parking lot with no one even close. Had an OJ full size Bronco tricked out that was keyed at the local cinema ....again parked at the very edge of the parking lot with no one else around, both times had taken up 2 spaces. Luckliy I was able to buff out 90%. Those bums getting gov't. cks are too lazy to push hard enough on the key to penetrate the paint. :frown:willy

JUST ONCE I'd like to catch someone red handed doing that. (I'd have enjoyed it a whole lot more 30 years ago...if you get my drift. :old:)

Someone around this area DID catch wunna these scum buckets keying a car at a local 'show. The guy evidently fell down quite a flight of stairs while being "chased down" prior to the P.D. getting there...:banana

the safest place for my GT besides my Fortress is the race track :frown

whenever i drive my GT in public i always make sure i am packing heat :thumbsup

i have been known to use my car as a weapon before too :wink

F with the best and you will die like the rest......

when it comes to my GT i take no prisoners :cool

the following is a true story >

last month just 3 days after Arizona enacted the illegal immigration thingy i was driving my GT on the 1-10 freeway in Phoenix when two mexicans in a POS $5,000 car outright just cut me off on purpose and just about wrecked my GT. my lightning quick reactions saved my gal. i tailgated them for about 5 miles deciding how i should get back at them for this? i had a loaded .357 magnum in the passenger seat but decided to use my GT as a weapon instead. so i pulled in front of them real quick like and slammed on the brakes hard at 65 mph. just before they rammed the back of my GT i nailed the throttle and then pulled away :bang their eyes were as BIG as saucers as they were not wearing any seat belts......

Aaaaaaaah, but, Sir Fredrick, what if thy GT had "hickuped" when thou didest hitest the go pedal????!!!:ack:ack:ack :willy:willy:willy

Besides - your .357 has only SIX rounds. Those two may have had at least TWELVE rounds between 'em (and likely several more)! And - THEY had the superior strategic shooting position as well!!! :rofl

Being serious for a second: The stunt they pulled mirrors the classic insurance scam EXACTLY. Namely: Find a high end car you KNOW hasta be insured to the max, then do what they did hoping for a collision and a big, "you-rear-ended-me-so-it's-your-fault", insurance payoff.

EP - i never even thought of this insurance scam until you mentioned it :eek

i was in the left lane next to the concrete divider when they attempted to put me into the wall. i was madder than hell. the whole time i tailgated them after this it took everything i had to not pick up my pistola and point it at them :mad

instead i just pointed my middle finger at them the whole time until i made them see GOD :devil

as far as the six rounds is concerned it only takes me 2 to kill 2 people. my gun rig carries extra ammo in case i need to take on a Cartel. i am one class away from being a world class shooter with magnum revolvers as i have shot over 35,000 rounds of magnum ammo through my revolvers. and when it comes to rifles i can run a sniper team no problemo :biggrin

and finally their car had 4 cylinders and mine has 8. and my GT has brakes the size of Texas as they found out :banana

EP - they might have been Illegals :tap:

the first time me & my woman went to our favorite restaurant I parked on the end of the lot. I came out to find an old guy had parked to close to me and hit his door on the side scoop. It put a small line in the paint. But I know he didn't do it on purpose.I think the car was so low he couldn't see it out of his SUV. I live out in the country & drive like the road warrior so nicks and dings from rocks & such are all over the car any how.

Aaaaaaaaaaah, but, can you do all that OVER YOUR SHOULDER...using a r.v. mirror...while accelerating away from the target vehicle as per the afore mentioned scenario??? 'Last I heard, THAT isn't wunna the sanctioned target shooting situations! :rofl:rofl:rofl

Anyway, all that horse pucky aside, I'm still wondering if the event you described actually was an attempted grab at the classic 'golden insurance ring'. 'Sure seems that way to me. Regardless, all things considered, you were just darn lucky all the way around, IMHO. Count your blessings, sir. :wink :cheers

Arizona is an absolute powder keg ready to blow right now. and i am on the front lines of the whole thing as i live a mere 75 miles from the border :ack

This is a real movie? I don't think it will play in Peoria.
