I hope some of you Ford experts can help me decipher a tag on a rear end assembly from a Shelby.

Allegedly, this was a limited slip rear from a wrecked '69 Shelby GT500 with the Cobra Jet 428.

I bought the rear; heads; exhaust manifolds; cam; exhaust system; and some other stuff back in the '70's, with the intention of using them as an upgrade to my '68 GT500.

Never happened and I recently sold the '68 as an original condition car and now want to get rid of these parts.

The tag on the rear end reads as follows:

WFD - L 9DE
3L00 9 988A

If anyone can help me decipher this tag and tell whether it is limited slip or not, and perhaps ratio, I would really appreciate it.

Also, if anyone is interested in, or knows someone who might be interested in the parts, let me know.

Thanks a lot guys!

Have you contacted anyone at SAAC? While many of our members may have the information (and I'm sure they will respond), the SAAC organization is filled with them.

It is limited slip that is the L in the 3L00. Gear ratio is a 3 to 1, 9ED is a date and WFD-L is for the appilcation it was in. I don't remember that right now but can look it up later. It is a 9" rear.

:agree:

WFD-L is 1969 Mustang/Cougar
9ED is 4th week of May, 1969
988A is the plant #

THANKS GUYS!!!

Glad to find out I have what I thought I had.

Now I need to find someone who wants to buy it.

I'll look to saac for potential buyers.

Ha, economics so bad you need to pay your toll bills? Bet you don't leave that transponder in your car again.

Still wrestling with e-z pass for refund, but you are sure right about the transponder. I guess they were serious when the give you the little foil pouch!
