I bought wifey a new car today for "X" dollars...and 5 boxes of Lil' Caesars pepperoni & Canadian bacon pizza for the dealership's staff!!! I kid you not! That WAS the actual deal! :rofl (Is it obvious I've done business with these people more than once before?:biggrin)

Ya, granted, the pizza thing was KINDA SORTA tongue-in-check, but, I'm gunna make GOOD on it! (The pizza was just the dealer's subtle comment on the situation the car market's in these days...car dealers & car salesmen are starving...I "stole" the car, so the least I could do was BRING FOOD...that sorta thing.)

Regardless, it was the darnedest car price wrangling session I've ever been a party to!:lol

Very cool! Way to take care of the salesmen!

Once purchased a used Ranger 4x4 from dealership with a firm offer from my well below asking. My salesman came back saying they did not want to nickle and dime us and gave us their best deal, which was 230 or so above my offer but still well below their asking price. Instead of walking I raised my offer 100 and added a plate of home made chocolate chip cookies trying to split the difference. I just did not want to give in to any dealer demands. To my surprise they took it. Looking back on it they probably would have taken it without the cookies but we will never know?

What kind of car did your wife get if you dont mind me asking?

Great story. Id like to know, as well, what the wife got!

Years back I wanted to buy a used 4 door Chevy Dually that had a 454 with a 5 speed manual ( rare option) to tow a 40" 5th trailer with. I knew the Service Manager well and found out he had access to all vehicles dealer's cost. I offered him 2 tickets to Disneyland for a copy of the truck's worksheet, he obliged. With that knowledge in hand, I offered $300 over dealers cost and negotiated the deal with the sales manager that turned out to be the owner's son. That was 20 years ago. I eventually told him what I did after the service manager left and I am still friends with the owners. To this day, I still give the salesman 2 tickets to Disneyland every time I buy a vehicle from the dealership.

Okay Larry tell us what you bought and how much of a hit did the Beemer take?

Sales Manager at Ford Dealer in Saco, Maine bought me Lobster Lunch after closing deal on GT.

Was my first New car too.

It would probably be inappropriate for me to mention here what wifey chose! :biggrin I'll say this much - it's NOT a high end car. Wifey insists she's THROUGH with those (we'll SEE how long that lasts!). And it's a 4 dr sdn!:eek

I'm just glad it's finally ALL OVER! We looked at everything that filled the bill as far as the space needed in back for the grandkids car seats, etc. Everything from the Hyundai Sonata to the Benz e550 coupe (it HAS the room...and we're partial to 2 drs). The only limiting factor imposed was whatever car she chose had to have a dealer HERE IN TOWN (or DARN CLOSE to here). 'No more of this crapola of driving 110 miles ONE WAY to get a car serviced. Huh uh. No darn way.

Wifey seems happy as a clam with her choice. Hopefully things will remain that way...:willy

Anyway, right now I gotta head outta here and pick up 5 pizzas and a car...! :lol

Prius

If Larry bought a Prius for his wife and traded the BMW for it, then he's a @##$^$&%&%&^. Never mind.....

I thought you don't like BMWs, isn't a Prius a step in the right direction? At least a Prius has better resale value than a BMW. :lol

Its like looking for peanuts in your dump... I'd rather they'd all be flushed without making my eyes suffer. You know Clinton, you bring out the worst in me....
