This has always been one of my favorite places on earth, because it's one of the places least like anywhere else on earth. Camilo and I stopped here to take some pics and drove right out onto the Salt Flats. More like "crept" onto the salt flats. I can only imagine the places that salt gets if you go more than 5 mph. I powerwashed the car twice that day, again the next, and again the day I got home. :lol

Badass! What is the distance to the mountains off in the distance?

Honestly, not really sure. The close ones are probably only a few miles, but your sense of perspective gets really warped there. When you hit the stretch of road that crosses it, you can see the mountains in the distance and it seems as if "OK, those are pretty close." And then you drive for 35 miles and you still haven't got there yet. :lol It's very cool to see the mountains just have sections seemingly disappear and look like they are hovering as you look across the horizon. Same thing happens with cars in the distance. It looks like they are hovering above a simmering lake.

Very, very cool ! Love the white with blue stripes....top pictures :-)

Wow, Dave, those are REALLY cool shots!!! :thumbsup

Nice pictures

Great shots in a surreal place. I wouldn't want all that salt on my car. I cringe at driving any of my cars (Cobra or Shelby GT) almost any time after October until late March or April (first good spring rain) because of the salt and mag chloride they put down on the roads. The underbody probably helps keep it out of most places though.

Good fun right there

Matech GT1

I couldnt agree more , that top pic of the white with blue looks totally awesome , it is now going to be my screen saver

nice pics dave but why this torture for the GT body , salt ist dangerous for cars, i´m always angry when the Road maintenance put salt on the roads during Winter because the risk of corrosion ist very high.
