GT500 Crate Engine With GT Aluminum Block

JDM Engineering put together a GT 500 crate motor for my Lightning. The motor uses JDM's Ford GT wet sump conversion aluminum 5.4 shortblock. Includes upgraded rods, Manley Valves, Valvesprings, Retainers, and Ford GT cams and most importantly a 3.4 Whipple powdercoated white to match the Lightning and the GT. Should make 650 rwhp on pump gas and close to 800 on a race tune. I have to keep it above 10 sec in the 1/4 mile as I only have a 6 pt roll bar.

Engine is in the truck now and should be ready for break in this weekend.

With the upgraded valve springs and ability to rev higher, I think hp number estimates are very, very conservative. Are the heads twin injector, what engine management?

Bony: The huffers are actually green.

Engine bay looks a little shabby with the new motor - detailing to follow.

The numbers should be quite conservative considering previous trucks.

DMP built the world's first GT500-L found here, and with 100% stock GT500 longblock and the 3.4 GT500 Whipple with a 4 or 4.5 inch large upper pulley, the truck makes around 610 SAE rwhp and 590 SAE rwtq. That is conservative tune and around 16lbs of boost iirc, and was not taking advantage of all the rpm's the engine has to offer. Considering the higher c/r your shortblock has probably, your truck should turn the rollers to some pretty stout numbers.

Then "fuzzie" had PSI Motorsports from Texas build him a GT500-L using one of JDM's shortblocks and GT heads/cams and ran a 9.99 on about 25 peak and 21 holding lbs of boost. my guess is he is putting out somewhere around 800-850rwhp.
