Congrats welcome to the family!

LOL - I know that feeling all too well! I've had her for exactly one month now & still walk into the garage to share a smile with her on a daily basis: my purchase thread.

These cars are simply stated... awesome!!

Cheers,

Lance

Know just how you feel !! I could not sleep for a week b4 getting my gal!!
If it was a Toyota you could say "Oh what a feeling !!"

My delivery.

Long-term members have already read this as it's a repost of a thread I wrote shortly after I took delivery of my car over three years ago. The delivery of my Ford GT didn't go real smoothly. I had been told that the roof cut out Le Mans style doors could be a little tricky. Yeah, okay, certainly no problem here. I'm pretty sure you'll have a better first day with your new Ford GT. Welcome to the brotherhood.

The delivery.

When I bought my car it was in Houston so I flew my Glasair III out from Scottsdale and a nice looking female dealership employee picked me up at the Sugarland Airport. My yellow GT was "looking good" in the service stall and I was giving it my best - this is no big deal, Joe COOL - demeanor as I slipped into the drivers seat to inspect my new ride. Ah yes.....the sales babe is obviously impressed and she probably thinks I'm a professional race car driver! With this young lady looking on from the passengers seat I then proceeded to slam the door shut on the top of my head, nearly blacking out, and giving myself an instant reverse MOHAWK. The intense pain was amplified as my passenger shrieked, "Oh my God, your hair is stuck in the roof, does that hurt"?!?! I could feel my coolness draining away rapidly. Determined to salvage the shred of dignaty that remained, I said, "No problem darlin".....and then proceeded to swing the door open and jauntily stepped out....slamming my forehead into the corner of the door with such force that it drove me to my knees. "Oh my God, are you allright!?!?" my saleslady gasped as she rushed to my aid. "I'm pretty sure Dan Gurney didn't do this" I was thinking as my hair drifted down from the top edge of the door. I struggled to clear my head and regain my vision. The dealership's General Manager had witnessed this spectacle and the look on his face told me that his enthusiasm for letting this out of state "hot shot" test drive their only Ford GT had noticeably diminished. Christ, this has to be some kind of a record. I've already had two serious injury accidents and she hasn't even given me the keys yet! "I'm fine, I'm fine", I exclaimed as I staggered to my feet. "Let's go inside and do the paperwork before I kill myself out here". :bored The car was shipped to AZ and I was able to fly my plane home without crashing. My hair and my ego are both slowly growing back.

Chip -

I remember your story and I still love it! :lol

When I finally received my car, I swore I would not guillotine myself in the forehead, having done my homework and research. And did it anyway. No babes watching however!!

Chip that was great!

Man oh man, Chip, I remember reading that post of yours, absolute classic! :lol

I tell everyone of my customers to watch their head several time before they take delivery. Half of them still hit it anyway! It HURTS!!!

I just take the damn roof off. At least that problem was solved. :rofl Just be careful!

Chip- I'm still laughing after reading your story - an instant classic! I must admit I hit my head a couple times after my purchase, however I was simply making sure I wasn't dreaming (lol).

Cheers,

Lance

Chip,

My head hurts just thinking about it. I have to warn every new passenger to go UP then Out. Every once in a while someone still bashes their head on the door getting out...:ack

Oh man, what a feeling.

You lucky son of a gun. I know exactly how you feel:banana
The picture of your car in the trailer almost gives me Dejavu. The same gentlemen(mark) and his dog, a Boxer, delivered my Tungsten.

He was on his way to deliver a Silver one before mine, but it was Memorial day weekend and the owner of the Silver GT wanted to wait until Tuesday, so
I got mine first. We had to move the Silver car out to get to mine. This really got the neighbors out of the wood work LOL. :eek

Here's some pic's of the whole ordeal :ack:biggrin

Thank you, Chip for the laughs. That was too funny! That’s one way to get mouth to mouth. Thanks again for sharing this post. I show this post to my wife she started laughing and said “Great I see you are in the right group of people” Looking forward in meeting you folks!

Best Regards,

Chuck
