I am looking into having some different diff ratio's made for the GT transaxle
they need to make a run of about 50 sets to make it worth while.
I need either 4.10 or 4.30 for racing are any of you interested ,if so let me know what ratio and how many.
cheers

Did you see the thread where we talked about ratios?

I know I thought 3:90 was probably about ideal (through some information I had read), but don't know if that would fit your specific needs.

First question from anyone will be how much?

How tough would the change be?

We are working with several company's they should be able to give us the cost shortly. At this stage I am just trying to find out whether there is enough people interested in this to be able to do them at a reasonable cost.
the replacment of ratio's would not be a major job for a good tansmission specialist our someone like the "gt guy".
We could run a 3.90 ratio but would prefer to run a shorter ratio but if it works out that 3.90 is the most popular then this may be the only cost effective ratio to build .

I'm in.... :thumbsup

I might be interested in 4:10's, I have always liked that ratio on a road course.

thanks guys keep them coming all choices will be looked at.

Are you just looking for final drive ratios? In the past, I have found that getting custom tranny ratios done for the gearbox yields much better results. Then you can control speed/rpm in each gear. For example, with the flat torque curve of this engine, wheelspin is an issue in 1st gear, but 2-3-4 could be changed to keep the rpms in a better range. This worked great on the Viper Transmission (lowered our 100-150mph times but a couple seconds!)
Thoughts?

Yes changing gear ratio's will yeild better results, I have asked ricardo about this but have had no reply as of yet, this may also turn out to be to costly for just a few sets of gear sets but I am looking into this as well

Wouldn't it make sense that Ricardo would use a standard (to Ricardo) gear set that is used in other Ricardo transmissions. There may be appropriate ratios available instead of custom made.

I still have not heard bake from ricardo on the gear ratio's the head tech is away till next week, will post when I hear something.

I have just heard that a certain company has the rights to the ricardo diff ratio's and is getting them designed and made at the moment , sounds like about late this year for supply in various ratio's more info as it comes in.

I would also be interested in some higher ratio differential gears , however the car would probably need a higher 1st gear to avoid having a "granny" gear.

:skep What?? You must be kiddin huh??

I have seen the gearbox apart!

I have seen the gearbox apart. And it is designed like a real race box.
All the gears (including the main cluster) are individual and separate.
Allowing changing each ratio separately.

It should be an easy deal to switch to straight cut Dog engagement race gears.

I may know where to find a Rebuild tool kit as well.

Neil, When you talk with Recardo. Ask if the main shaft to lay shaft spacing is the same as there Racing boxes?
