G1/Android is basically a mechanical repackage of existing hardware with a different software pack and not really an innovation. It would be hard pressed to place it on par with the Blackberry or Iphone as a market changer. What this will do is force Steve Jobs to be more willing to allow third party applications to be developed for business applications taking it from the what was an original mismarketed personal service device to a truly business appliance.
Using the supplied cable port a virtual desktop type keyboard can be attached to the iphone and is in development. Hopefully the next generation Iphone will take the next step in processing power, wimax rated radio and other new technologies and take us into the "G4-G5" range of technologies.
I do like T mobile as a company as they are very customer friendly and are sensible about thier product packaging. However, personally there seems to be more corporate leverage in the design of the G1 than is necessary.
