I am not surprised. As the article mentions, both JD Powers and Consumer Reports have Ford matching and in some cases beating the Japanese in this department. Ford has been going in this direction for a long time now...too bad the American public is still largely unaware of the quality of its cars!

I can attest to that, my 2007 F 150 has been flawless with "0" defects.

"18 of Ford's 24 models have fewer Things Gone Wrong than the year before, and every vehicle since 2005 has better quality than its predecessor."

Does this mean the 2006 FGT are better than the 2005?

There are a number of recommendations that were made to senior management to lower warranty costs down. Of course, while bringing TGW's, and R1000's down. Year on year, industry wide, there is usually only one model line that achieves TGW into the 600's or less. It's tough to expect that year on year. One of the worst cars for 2007 was the Crown Vic; which was only recently one of the most reliable cars in Ford's stable. What changed? Production moved from Wixom to Canada.

Ford OEM Aftermarket sales have always been profitable; I believe $6B in 2006. A large portion of those profits come from warranty work; which is arguably not beneficial to the the blue oval. I wonder if they have reduced the profit margins of aftermarket OEM parts now?

well done Ford.
