Gas Cap gasket liner

I had same fuel smell for 15 minutes with a multi click fill up. Just filled up today with 1 click and absolutely no smell.

Good data

If ever you have the reason to remove the passenger side inner fender liner you will see the over flow hose and as another shared it can be moved or IMO better yet extended below the belly pan so that any fuel over flow would drain on the ground and not within the cavity.

Thank you

I think this is mentioned in the owners manual:

Gas fill up on the slowest setting and stop fueling at the first click. Only way to get No vapors and a full tank.

Besides, the longer it takes, the more photo's the other customers will take.

Met a lot of nice folks this way!

Not hitting the fueling trigger multiple times has been the recommended procedure ever since they started adding smog controls to engines and a charcoal canister. I was told many years ago that topping off the tank by hitting the trigger multiple times would cause the charcoal canister to fill with raw gas instead of fumes. This saturated canister would then cause the engine to run too rich and caused a smell of gasoline. Don't know if this still applies to the new ECU systems.

Is this true for Diesel pick ups? My F350 clicks off 6 gallons before the tank is full....drives me nuts. Diesel Foam :bored.

No, I have never heard this to be a problem on diesels. I added an aftermarket vent to my Dodge 2500 Diesel and it solved the slow (multiple) fill problem you mentioned completely. The 2004 and older Dodge Rams would not fill completely and it would take minutes after the trigger kicked off to fill the tank completely - had to trickle the fuel in for a long, long time to get a full tank. Had to drop the tank, drill a new hole in the highest part of the tank, then run a hose up to the stock vent connection near the top of the fill tube. I still have to hit the trigger a few times to get rid of the last bit of foam and to see the liquid near the top of the tube (about 2 cups to a quart more fuel).
