Hey all, I Work at a Ford Dealer in Montreal, this cool guy with a FordGT has come by with his car a couple times now to get minor stuff done like oil changes. He really like my 04 Cobra so we chat alot about cars. He's the type of guy who doesn't have much time to research mods so he's asking my opinion about what next mods he should do.

So, couple questions for you guys.

He already has the Ford Racing Mufflers, he wants to do long-tube headers, what do you guys recommend? As with many FordGT owners, money is no object.

He would also like to open up the airbox, whats the preffered aftermarket air intake for the FordGT's?

I know a pully/tune combo would do wonders on that car, but he wants to wait until the warranty expires before he does that.

btw, this guy owns a 430, Murcielago and a 911 Turbo. He tells me over and over again how much he prefers driving the FordGT :banana (he just just bought the new 430CS so we'll see how that compares)

thanks in advance!

No major performance gains from the headers but it sounds good. There is nothing on the market to really improve the air box performance but an Intake stiffener on the bellows to keep it from collapsing is a must.
I would recommend the bellows support and the pulley and tune. If he wants it louder dump the Borla muffler and go with one of the cat back systems. The Accufab X pipe is one of the top choices. It has a clean and simple design. It's probably the lightest ones out there.. The headers with no cats and Straight pipes is ear piercing loud..

Check out Stainless Works - http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6737&highlight=stainless+works

Shadowman has an excellent write-up and can accurately provide you with pro's & con's.

thanks for the reply's

Can i have a little more info on this? He has complained that on decels stepping on the clutch the engine has dropped down and stalled a couple times on him. Could this issue be the cause?

As said he already has the Ford Racing muffler, Ford Racing has a set of long tube headers that will bolt up to it, but if they eliminate the cats i agree it will be stupid loud.

Matt,

Read this thread for more info on exhaust and options.

If you are thinking about a bumper delete than another thing to consider is how the exhaust tips would look without a bumper. Some can easily be cut back, others cannot.

Thanks again!!

So.. bottom line.. Stainless Works FTW!

If I had it to do again I would have the pipes coated and wrapped before I put them on.

Just my 2c

The stalling sounds like the fuel neck...research it on the forum someone will probably post a link but its a somewhat common problem that requires the fender being removed.
