I picked up this Ford vehicle today. I intend to use it for gravel road maintenance and flattening out some of my property.

Nice workhorse. We had Fords on our farm. The little N1 was my favorite.

Actually Japanese distributed by Ford.

The thing that is amazing is that OEM parts are available for these no matter how old they are. This is the case with Caterpillar and I have heard the same about Ford. Unlike cars.

It’s a model 1700 with 4WD, circa 1981. Twoshelbys is correct that it was built in Japan by Shibaura for Ford. Although it’s classed as a “compact tractor”. It’s significantly beefier than most in that category. Basic tractor is about 2650 lbs, and 3000+ with the front loader. 25 HP 2-cylinder Diesel engine, etc.

Very nice tractor.
That one will serve you well.
I've got a 1941 2N.
The 2N is the model between the older 9N and more modern 8N.
You would think the model numbering would be the other way around.

…and the 1710 tractor was a couple decades before the 1700 tractor. Go figure.

Yep. Porsche 996, 997, then back to 991, 992. Maybe it has something to do with companies that make both sports cars and tractors.

In Porsche’s case, in order to keep the 9xx numbering convention, they had to go back and use numbers they skipped over. Those numbers were used for other internal projects that did not go into production.
