A few weeks ago I had posted a thread seeking a general feel on what the members thought about us connecting with Ford Performance Group. Just to let you know, this is a done deal.
What should you expect to change on Ford GT Forum?
Not much. It will be the same owner's forum you've come to know and love. You'll be seeing a rotating banner ad for the Ford Performance Group which is the enthusiast arm of the SVT/Ford Racing apparatus. You'll also see our logo over at http://www.fordperformancegroup.com.
What will they do with my email address?
Here's what we had to give up in order to become an officially sanctioned FPG club: the aforementioned banner ad and an email list of our GT owners. With your email address, you are going to receive a one-time email from FPG asking you to either opt-in or opt-out of their communications list. If you opt-in, you're in. If you opt-out, you'll never see it again.
What can I look forward to if I opt-in?
The following stuff is why I figured it would be more than worth it to cough up the email list. I hope you'll agree:
What's in it for the forum?
We get all the benefits for the members mentioned above, and we get our logo and our webpage linked on the FPG website, so more people find out, and more people participate. Also, this was discussed as a way to get Ford more involved in the Rally. Obviously Rallies 2-4 hit at the worst possible time to get involvement from the company, but with brighter days ahead and this new relationship with FPG, I'm hopeful we can get the big blue oval on board for some support in getting more GT guys, more cars, more speakers and more everything to our events. Mark my words, with this years advanced warning, we're getting someone from the top floor in Dearborn to Rally 5.
So there it is. Happy motoring.
:cheers
