OK... it's early... but maybe not to early to throw out some potential location names... Maybe we can start a poll? Here are a few names to start the list.

Irvine, CA at Saleen Plant where the Saleen S7's are built

Pebble Beach, CA at the Concours Italiano/Monterey Historic Races Laguna Seca/Pebble Beach Concours

Napa, CA at Mario Andretti's Winery. I may be able to pull off having Mario there with us. I had him at my home for a fund raiser a few weeks back as a fund raiser for Boys and Girls Club.

love the PB idea

How about Indiannapolis, the mopar nationals are held there every year. You know, more centrally located for the rest of us.

As long as I can go I will drive to Hawaii. :biggrin hehe. I also like the Pebble Beach idea. But the Indianapolis idea sounds good too. sorry not much help.

Joe

Phoenix

Hot, but Bondurant, Firebird Raceway, Phoenix International, cheap hotels (off season), and no bugs.

Back to Detroit - It ain't homecoming if they don't go home....

(That said - Let's do a winter version in one of the other cool locations!)

Agree 100%

Irvine sounds absolutely great- the Saleen folks have been great to us, and it is a superb area for an event. Napa sounds interesting too.

Monterey would be way, way too busy during Pebble weekend.

How about Las Vegas or Orlando as alternatives, too?

Anyway, my vote is for Irvine :cheers

Dearborn..been there, done that...on to somehting new

The Monterey penninsula is an awesome place to be during the Councours de Elegance at Pebble Beach and the Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca. Tons of great cars and lots to do.....a fantastic weekend :banana

Irvine at Saleen would be a good choice. Being able to once again meet with the good people at Saleen who might also be able to solve some minor problems, if any..? This is an ideal location for this type of gathering. Gets my vote.....Geo.

I think we should rotate it but definitely back to Dearborn and the Ritz Carlton in the not too distant future. :cheers

Based on the fact that they sold my room to the Denver Broncos and kicked my ass out, (my reservation was confirmed on April 5, 2006) I'll not be staying at a Ritz Carlton ever again :frown

Ferrari Owners and NCRS have held meets the week following Monterey car events. I suggest those interested attend Monterey then go on our rally.
Rally down Highway 101 to Saleen in Irvine, or Shelby in Vegas, or Andretti winery in Napa-Sonoma :cheers

Irvine

"Irvine sounds absolutely great- the Saleen folks have been great to us, and it is a superb area for an event."

This gets my vote. We should alternate east/west. Arizona is too damn hot in the summer. Any California location would be great. Some great roads for the drive to dinner are a plus.

I'll vote for Saleen. :biggrin

Hey Chip,
How about a run from Shelby in Vegas to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale in January?
Cheers, daniel

I'm in. That sounds like a blast. There are probably a few other AZ based GT's that would be interested. Give me the dates and let's make it happen.

BTW

What are you doing at at 1:59 am?

Having attended annual gatherings/events with many other car clubs (Porsche, Viper, Lamborghini, Lotus and now the Ford GT), and having lived in Monterey, I can tell you that the Pebble Beach gathering sounds good, but there are literally tens of thousands of people that show up every year. Hotels are booked a year in advance, most don't have protected parking, and police and people are everywhere. Napa is a very nice place too, but again, hotels are a little smaller, parking is likely not going to be protected, and there are many cars on the 2 roads that go through the valley (most of the drivers have been drinking all day too).

That being said, it may be a nice change of pace next year to have it where there is an opportunity to better flex the muscle of the Ford GT and have some great rides and cruises. My vote would be for Vegas (hotels, parking not a problem), plenty of open road for cruises and a track that can be rented for a variety of events. No shortage of other fun activities there either. Otherwise I would say keep it south for good weather and a variety of activities (like Florida, Texas, Arizona, or CA-San Diego). Having a track nearby, offering race instruction, autocross, road course, and drag strip would be a plus as well.
