Ford GT in clasifieds

I have the GT Guys pulley and tune on my white car with 37k miles. I have to load the stock tune when I get it inspected every year with the OBD-2 test they do here in TX. Minor inconvenience.

I have the GT guys tune and didn't have to do anything to pass Colorado test. They hook to OBD-2 and also visual inspect for cats. Then they do the sniff test. No dyno run because they said it would tear it up (too much HP for their setup). They don't measure HP (wish you could get it!) but use the dyno to get the car up to driving speeds during the test cycle.

FWIW, no problem with Virginia emissions, which is required every two years. Sniffer and OBD-2. 2.7 pulley, unknown 16 psi tune and FRPP muffler.

After you load the stock tune, how long does it take the OBD2 checks to clear so you can get the inspection? IE how much to you have to drive it and is there a suggest driving pattern to get the checks to clear quickly right before inspection?

I drive it about 50 miles (to work and back for 2-3 days) and then take it in for the state inspection. First time I went it didn't pass with the custom tune in place. Something in that tune alters the reading from the cats, I guess. Swapped tunes, drove it a while, and it passed. I've done it this way for the last 3 years.

It sounds like Hudson's car might still be available.......................:cool

Aware. Thanks for the heads up, though;)

Even though I have a tune from Torrie, I picked up the FRPP tune/pulley kit since they won't be available forever. The availability of Ford Racing parts for the GT has dwindled to the pulley/tune kit, chrome coil covers and the muffler. It is hard to pass up a 50 state legal 100 HP factory upgrade for around $850 bucks, even if you are running another setup.

Get 'em while you can.

Thank you for your efforts to bring clarity to this thread! :)

Thank Heaven a broker is handling this for me due to the flurry of inquiries, requests, trade offers. (Don't worry, I pay him.) Though an outright sale is fine - really - I'd prefer to trade. Yet that can get a little tricky. I'd just rather put the money toward a car (or something tangible) than sales tax. Whatever works out best.

Hey Steve! Well, given our similar tastes, tell me what you're getting next so it'll be 'pre-approved'! Looking at different options. Gallardo, 550/575 6 speed, 993tt, GT3, maybe a 430. Playing.

I am looking at a few possibilities, and keep swinging between them back and forth, 997 Turbo, 512TR and Lamborghini Diablo, can not decide which way to go, only I have owned several 12cyl ferraris, and several Porsche, but never a lamborghini. I will however be keeping the GT
Did you not gel with the GT?

I have loved it, friends have ogled, people find this car so 'approachable' (unlike some other makes) and it gives a good chance to be a 'car witness' to them. And I've taken it on a couple trips, marvelling at power, competency in every way. I've got other cars on "the list" that I'd like to explore. Not a complaint about the GT (except for the door design, which also cause the world's fattest A-pillar!) but I feel I've scratched that itch. In the same breath, every time I drive it, I think, "Is this not the best long-term keeper ever???"

The 997s are crazy good cars, but in this group, a little pedestrian. Not sure about Steve, but to me, the Diablo lives up to its name! A Gallardo was a better 'fit' for me, but a 6.0 Diablo is a menace to society for sure. My 512TR was the best Ferrari I've ever owned. There, I said it. And I was NOT convinced of that when I got it. The 512TR is to me 'the' icon of the crazy mid engined 12s. So 80's it oughta come with linen pants and pastel shirts.

The TR has one of the sexiest asses in all of "cardom", and the Diablo is just evil, in a good way. I'd own either one, or both, if space, wife and funds would allow!!!!

So I have been following the GT market ever since they came out, and until recently I havent been able to afford one. I have owned many cars over the years: 2 vipers, 2 nsx's, 360, 2 993 911's, 2 m coupes, v8 vantage to name a few. My current collection is a 1988 e30 M3, 2011 BMW 1M, 1995 Porsche 993, and my newly acquired 2001 BMW Z8. Seems like the Z8 market is similar to the GT market--a few dealers buying up these cars. Anyways, seems like this particular GT has been for sale for a couple of months and the current owner has had it for a few months only. The mileage doesnt scare me, but for future value the accident and mileage is what hurts the market on this car. So the question is, should I pursue this car or hold out for a non issue GT? I do like this car and the idea of being able to drive it, my Z8 has 6900 miles and was bought for sunday drives.

Which car are you referring to? AHudson's?

yes

His car was not involved in an accident??

i saw an earlier ebay ad that has an autocheck reporting the accident:

I disclosed the curb mishap that happened when the car was 4 months old in the description and provided the Auto-Check. It cleared a PPI done by an inspector at the Wixom plant, and from a Ford dealer just prior to my ownership.

'Yes' a car without a reported issue will have a higher value than one without. To me, this diminishes with time. (Consider the multi-million dollar cars on Pebble Beach lawn restored from a ball of metal wrapped around a VIN tag.) Yet everyone differs in their value view.
