Except for the political views of the majority!

How bout a side shot of those wheels Jerry? Haven't had a chance to see those in person...

The pictures don't do justice, the wheels look great.

So that was yours eh? A bunch buddies and I attended the show. I didn't bring the GT - not knowing I could park her in the corral. Anyway, when we came upon your amazing car - first time I saw those doors in person to say nothing of those wheels - I knew I was in the presence of greatness. And I'm terribly sorry if you're still washing the drool off your Whipple (boy, that really doesn't sound right, does it?). My friends (ok, ok, and I) were in serious awe.
Truly a beautiful example of greatness. Thanks for the eyeful.
And yes, the Ferrari's were like shopping at Costco. They had 'em there by the palletful. Totally undifferentiated. Not that they aren't great cars, but I gotta believe that each owners exclusivity factor took a big hit at that show. I'll send a photo or two to make the point.
And for those of you who really need a Veyron in brushed stainless (does Jason have a box of Brillo?), I know where you can get one :)

This was too funny. I attended a car show last weekend in Monterey/Carmel California that features Ferrari and other Italian made cars. I drove up to the entry gate to the corral and the young men at the gate asked me if I wanted to come in the corral. I said yes. I pulled in front and center of the corral. I exited the car opened the butterfly doors and the engine hood cover. Within a few seconds everyone left the Ferrari's and other Italian cars and surrounded the GT. Everyone had their camera's out and snapping away. The GT was the hit of the Italian car show. :banana:cheers:rofl

Yeah--the Ford GT's were the 'hit' at the Woodward Dream Cruise last weekend too. Most Folks love them and really do want to talk to the owners about them...they seem to avoid the other exotics.

I saw that HZH Hertz Corvette over at the Monterey wharf on Thursday- I assume you were the one renting and driving it....

What were your impressions of it? (I know, it's no FGT, but pretty great for a Vette?)

Wow- somehow I missed you, Lorna, Jerry, and the "Awsum GT"! Concorso seemed like it had only about a third or fourth of the number of cars, vendors, and spectators that it usually has, don't know how I missed important stuff...oh, well- at least it was easy in and out from the parking lot this year!

Hey John we missed you. Last Concorso for me, did not like the Marina airport. Had two tickets for the Quail, then my pal asked me to get two more. I failed, so I figured we would all go to Concorso. Put the two Quail tickets on Ebay, was hoping to get my $400 back and finally sold for $1360... me very happy.

That's just not right! :frown:frown:eek

I found out after I was inside the corral it was for the Italian cars only. But nobody came up to me and asked me to move it out. Most of the Ferrari guys were checking the GT out and taking photos too...

Yep, there were 4 out this weekend. I had a reservation for a base $60Mustang at 12pm, when I landed, it was not cleaned up so the manager offered me the Vette for a $75 upgrade. With a 15% So Cal AAA discount I pilfered somewhere it was a steal as they go for $220 a day.

Impressions: I was uttelry blown away; and am finally putting in an order, with GMs employee=public pricing. I dragged my feet since last yr, but this 4 day rental sealed it.

-I had never driven a Vette before, so I had no real measuring stick, just the GT....thats a high class problem:biggrin

-Paint, fit and finish are fine for the price; seats are actually very comfortable, and A/C=frostbite. Stereo was fine too; had to set the fade/bass mix right.

-When you punch it it lets out a mechanical bellowing, thumping, exlpoding sound that is unbelievable. I have driven 911s and even the Hertz Shelby; all have the hi rev wind up/quick grab....but, this is a whole new torque detonation inferno.

It winds up, hunkers down, it launches, then blast off. I was not prepared for it and nearly flew off my first lane-change/exit ramp. Mind you this is a base automatic (turned off paddles), no z51, butterfly exhaust, etc.

-The steering, ride, handling were all excellent. Not harsh, but tight enough that you get excellent input and stability, with zero rattle, flex or hop. I had three runs that were all perfect:

-Cruising around downtown/cannery row and slipinng in and out parking, tight traffic, etc

-Hi speed blast up to laguna seca and down canyon, and 100+ run down Hwy 1, like on rails.

-Twisties on 17 mile drive later afternoon in fog and after Concours near cliffs.

-Public Reaction: I couldnt believe my eyes. EVERYONE looks at it from college girls, to jaded babes, to even exotic drivers. This was the main shock for me. And walking out to it in the morning, after seeing great cars all day, after dinner is an amazing feeling.

Basically, it gets respect and its a classic.

-Driveability: Its very easy to get in/out of; has massive luggage space, cool guages/readouts, and nice automatic locks/lights/key fobs, etc. Also, Two #s: 17 MPG!

-The only negative is the exhasut is a bit loud. :ack(I now I will get bashed for this b/c I like the stock Ford GT exhaust=its quiet!) Not sure if a pipe was loose or cat was bad. But, at lights and closes quarters you definitely got a resonating in the ear with windows down. With windows up, a/c, stereo at highway speed its near silent. At start up, however, the growl is amazing; it quickly clears a path and all back down.

Overall, for impact, acceleration, speed, value, styling and just classic appeal its a winner.

Wow, good profit! I did pretty well, too- just standing around to buy Concorso tickets, two different people gave me their extra tickets that they had brought with them!

I was pretty underwhelmed by the Concorso this year too.
