I'd like to get some bumper stickers or t-shirts made for GT Forum Members in the 200 mph club. In order to be included, this must be done by a forum member in a Ford GT on a verified closed course like the Texas Mile, Mojave Mile, Lemoore, or other closed environment. 200 mph freeway runs will not be accepted. :wink

Congratulations to all in this exclusive club :thumbsup

It would be interesting to know what the minimum power requirement and/or modifications to join this club.

If I understand the different posts correct, a regular pulley/tune modified car will not reach more than 175-180 mph in a mile run right?

:cheers

Dave, you should put asterisks * by the speeds that were achieved outside of a mile run. such as I do believe that Hennessey's 235.4 mph run was achieved beyond 1 mile in distance. obviously Hennessey has gone faster than 200 mph in a mile before and i do not recall what that speed was. if i am wrong about all this forgive me John......

Ahem, there is no requirement to do it in a mile, just to DO IT! The 208.6 I saw on my GPS was running slightly after the mile marker. 200 is a special target to hit regardless of how long it took you to get there!

Regarding pulley and tune cars - Stormcat did 186 mph with it, in our unfavorable Texas conditions (heat index something like 110 degrees outside).

Faster than my Whipple car did, however he is also a much more experienced driver.

I was wondering how acurate is our speedometer at 180-200MPH? My first run at the Texas mile I was just below 190 MPH. I was concerned about going too fast on my first run, so I lifted. I was over 180 at the 3/4 mile mark. They handed me my tape and it was 154.6. My second run I did not look at my speedometer and I was clocked at 174.6

If you lift the car slows down big time from the wind resistance. My Driftbox shows a 1.2g deceleration when I shut it down and I was only pressing very lightly on the brake pedal. The car probably and pull -1.5g or more at high speeds.

The racepak 300 in my drag T-bird shows just over neg 2 G.s when I pull the chutes at 195. I'm sure the air resistance is worse in my old beater than the GT. So I would guess that negative 1.5 in the GT would make you really appreciate your harness. Thats a pretty impressive number on the street if you think about it.

I was able to hit 214.5 on my only full pass at the Mile before getting kicked out for no fire suit.
