Ford GT buying tips

Buying from a very reputable dealer would help, but I suppose they could be fooled too. I would think some one like Shelby would be able to know a cars complete history if you were buying from him. With the aging of the cars, a PPI becomes more and more important. My dealer was great to deal with, but I bought mine a year ago with low miles and was guaranteed a no stories car. I had it all in writing, and again, dealer reputation is paramount. Best of luck with your search.

If you can't get a PPI with the GT Guys or the like I would buy from an reputable exotic dealer.

I found mine with 1300 miles on it at a New Bentley and Lambo dealership that also has a major trade in Ferraris and other exotics. They routinely had two to three GTs in stock. I was comfortable that they inspected the car prior to their purchase. I inspected their service area and saw it was clean, organized and well equiped.

Knowing what I know today I probably would have had the GT Guys come out and do a PPI just to make sure. I was fortunate as I have had the GT Guys do various mods on my car since I purchased it. Based on their review of the car its one to the nicer ones out there.

If you can get a PPI with the GT Guys I would stay with a reputable exotics dealer. Odds are they will have checked the car out before they bought it to make sure its not going to create future problems for them.

Based on what I am hearing, wouldn't a seller be wise to fund a certified PPI from the GT guys, stating mileage at time of certification, and simply add the cost onto the price? The sale would probably happen much quicker. Or would this create a possible liability situation for the GT Guys?

Whoever does a PPI has a liability to carefully check all the systems.
Normally the buyer chooses who does his PPI.

This thread has been very informative. Thanks. I, to, am starting the search for a used FGT from an original owner (if possible). I found the website for the GT Guys, but have not been able to find a listing on the internet for GT Tech or Shadowman. Could I get a reference and contact information please? A private EM would be fine, or maybe this information is listed on this forum, and I haven't found it yet. I will keep looking. I won't make any move on any car until I obtain a PPI from one of the three experts referred to in this thread. Thanks again
