Stefan Mücke lost control of the No. 66 Ford GT and had a high speed shunt after a piece of the car’s rear broke off on the fast, uphill Raidillon turn during today’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps race. Late reports indicate Stefan only sustained some bruises ... a monument to how well constructed and safe the new FGT Racers are.

Pretty horrific to watch. Glad everything was ok , except for No. 66. Demonstrates how close to the edge these guys operate at.
My coverage stopped 2 minutes from the end.. Ugh

Wow did something let go before the rear end let loose? Awful to watch. Glad no major injuries.

I had been at Spa and was walking nearby Eau Rouge about 30 minutes prior to this incident. I was glad I was not near and quite shocked when I saw track lighting turn to yellow and seeing the car nearly blocking the track. After all the cars are speeding up a lot in Eau Rouge and getting hit by another car when standing on the street - I don't want to imagine the outcome. Glad that todays race cars can withstand such impacts with relative minor injuries of the drivers, I still remember seeing those crashes of formula one cars in the seventies, where you could collect the remaining debris what once was a race car in a diameter of one hundred meters or burned down to the ground. Glad nothing too serious happened.

I love watching the cars at Spa but damn I'd hate to lose in at Eau Rouge
