Following a Ford GT

Yeah, unfortunately. I put the car up once they have sanded/salted the roads. In Colorado that could be early Sep or late Oct you never know. The way this summer has been I am predicting a early and heavy snowfall winter around here.

One of the reasons I couldn't stand living in NY. Deathly hot and humid in the summer, cold and snowy in the winter. Window for nice driving weather was seemingly only one month out of the year. But at least winter didn't kick in until late October/November. Taking Colorado off the list if I ever manage to get out of CA.

Send your GT40 down to FL for the winter and I'll see that it gets proper exercise. You don't even have to pay me, I'll do it for free. Pretty hard to pass that offer up. I'll even park it next to my Superformance so it feels at home.

Haha you are most generous.

Ed, the beauty of Colorado as opposed to some hell hole back east is that we have year around activities regardless of the season. I drive my car, ride my bike, and play golf all summer. There is a period of about a month in the fall that I spend a lot of time cutting firewood for the winter and then we start riding sleds through the winter. I've played golf on News Years day around here. I can't think of a place I'd rather live than in God's country.

Thanks for rubbing it in bonehead!

Beautiful for sure, Mike. But I'm not a cold weather person. I haven't been on skis since college and almost broke my ass trying to snowboard. I'll take my kids to see snow one winter, but I don't want to live anywhere that gets it during the winter.

Ha. Sorry, man. I grew up on LI, lived in NY through college, went south to the Mid-Atlantic for med school and residency, the BACK to NY for fellowship and my first job out of training. Most of my life was spent in NY, enduring the sticky summers and cold winters. I had enough!

I only have two lane roads running alongside cow pastures, raisin fields (Raisin capital of the World!), various nut trees, and cornfields.

Would that be fruits and nuts?

Yes, amonds, oanges, peaches...

The nutty fruits are mostly grown in the urban areas.

Great video. Great roads. Great state!

Good times

Ah, Louisville, one of my favorites. Has mushroomed in the last 25 years. The Louisville Inn has one of the nicest Rosewood bars you'll ever see.

Yep. Not justice.

Neither FGT came out for a cruise today :frown

Still had a great time cruising 9000' up in the Rockies. Maybe next time...

Great video...is this being shot from the rooftop or inside on the windshield?

It's mounted outside on the top of the windshield. I don't trust mounting it on a painted surface myself.

I won't put a suction cup onto a painted surface. Like Mike I mount mine to the center top of the windshield. I think I might try the top of the back window next time. Also thought about mounting it inside just above the subwoofer for an inside shot.

I think I'm going to get the newest GoPro. It's got wireless built in and you can get a viewer for smart phones.

Tony, I always mount it on the rear glass. I don't trust the suction cup to hold it to any external surface. Wind noise is also horrible.
Tip: if you do use the rear glass, don't mount directly above the sub. The high placement will put the rear view mirror right in the middle of the shot. Place it slightly down and toward the passenger side.

Also, the GoPro 2 has wi-FI capability and smartphone integration. Just have to buy the wifi backpak and housing. It's considerably bulkier than the GP3, but works the same. I have a feeling the GP4 will be out soon as I've seen prices for the 3 drop in the last few weeks.

I have the LCD "backpack" for my original generation GoPro. The new version works on all of them but the old one probably won't work on the new one. But with the smartphone thing I don't think I'd need it.

How often do they refresh the line? I'm not in a hurry and if they are going to come out with a new model I can wait.

Ok, I don't think the wifi backpak will work with the original Hero. I don't know how soon they refresh the line, but all I know is I paid full price for the 2 and the 3 came out a few months later:thumbsdow
My guess is by the end of the year.

Let me know if you ever have one come off glass. Mine has been 150 more times that I can count. They don't come off. If you are using the built-in GP audio you are doing your videos a disservice. As you said, it is awful. Get an external mic. Audio quality is at least as important if not more than video quality in regards to the final product.

How are you keeping the audio so clear with it mounted outside? Are you running an external mic to the inside of the car?
