Finally ripped the band-aid off and became an owner. I have been in the retail automotive business for 23 years, most of the first 18 spent in Ford dealerships. When the GT was in our showroom I was in such awe. It’s always been my dream car, specifically a Heritage car.

With the values of heritage cars so crazy for a long time now, and my ultimate goal to drive the car, I stumble
upon Disco Dan in this small world we live in. After seeing some of his rebuilds, I had a eureka moment…have a heritage car built for half price!

After seeing one he finished a few weeks ago, I commented on his FB post, where one of my friends goaded me to put my wallet where my mouth is.

I reached out to Dan to get an idea on what I would need to do to have him build me a car…”when I was ready”.

He responded immediately that he had the perfect car. When I replied that I didn’t think I was ready, he informed me that I’d better get ready, because the values are going one direction, and it ain’t down!

One of the great things about this particular car is that there was no accident damage; apparently it was in a garage fire.

Now the wait for the car to be completed before I ever actually see it in person.

Congrats on the car. I think I know the car you will be purchasing, as I looked into a garage fire GT back in February/March. Car was a great candidate for a rebuild. What is the ETA?

Thank you!

I need to open an account to host them. I'll post some of the current "before" pics.

Thanks!

I'm not rushing Dan, but I hope he works expeditiously :ROFLMAO:

Sounds like it has an Accufab motor in it

Seems like a good one to rebuild (y) Smashes and bent/broken structural items and body panels is bound to be worse.

Do you know what caused the fire?

The story I got was freak combustion from a fuel tank during repairs. I believe multiple cars were damaged.

I saw that one too. Real shame. Anyway, that’s a good way to get into a GT at a reasonable price, especially one with upgrades. It will always have a salvage title, but if you plan to drive it a lot, it won’t matter much and that’s a good way to go.

I believe this one went with a clean title. The other car(GT), that the fuel tank caught fire, then exploded, is still on coparts(basically a pile of ashes). I believe everyone survived the fire, but mechanics hurt trying to put out fire. Not surprised it has an accufab motor, as it had twin turobs + nitrous setup. Lots of exterior plastic melted(lights, weather seal, wheel liners, etc), but did not seem to get to interior. It was a car I considered buying, but ended up going a different route.

Was a clean Montana and now a clean Missouri title but carfax shows total loss. I suppose the insurance company made the decision for some reason to not stamp it salvage due to the damage being mainly cleaning, plastic items, a repaint and such. It's gonna come down to the bare chassis so each item can be cleaned. Will be a big labor job but it will make a nice car when done. Has a crazy build that someone spend a lot of thought and ton of time on but I believe the plan is to put a blower back on it and take the turbo stuff off it. I'm gonna knock it in the head in the next couple weeks here and get front end parts to paint and get the back of the chassis ready for a repaint.

I like it, I’d just get a hot rodder to paint some flames coming down the side and send it! 🔥 🔥 😎

Mine. Barrett and I have been friends for years. I just tease him with all the GT stuff I do and finally convinced him to bite the bullet before the bullet was unobtainable for him.

I can't thank Dan enough for building my 06 Heritage GT, he is amazing. Dan's knowledge of the GT's is beyond infinity. Dan also incredible talent with his hands, I keep telling him he should have been a surgeon. I was able to spend a lot of time watching and assisting Dan on numerous visits to his shop, I loved heading to Minnesota to watch Dan do his magic.

Congratulations! Looks great as is. I'd just fix the functional items and let her wear her burns proudly and unapologetically. Looks like she just got off the track at Le Mans. Kinda like these beauties...

In fact it was your delivery post where a friend goaded me for not having pulled the trigger yet. I messaged Dan immediately afterward just to get an idea of what the process would entail and he bullied me into this thing o_O
