What do you pay per kilowatt for you home electricity? Are you saying you pay .60 for each kilowatt?
We pay .10 a kilo in Texas. Is electricity really 6 times more expensive in CA?
Amazing
My home electricity bill if I had my house in CA would have been over $4000 last month. I just don't see any benefits to living in CA.

As for the 2 weeks of temps above 100 degrees, I fired up the natural gas 50KW generator to turn on the 4 ACs....But only long enough to bring the temps down to a comfortable level to go to sleep.
My electric bill, $320...
I have over 11,000 sq. Ft with a little under 3000 sq. Ft. of garage(s). I spent a lot of time calculating the sun travel during the seasons and accommodated up to an R45 insulation accordingly - twice the Title 22 report recommendations. All doors/windows are dual glass with highest Low-E available. Dormers engineered for the multi-faceted roof lines etc... My point, we have had 2 weeks where the temps went over 100 outside and the downstairs peaked at 79 degrees during the hottest part of the day. lower garage is mostly concrete and it stayed at 74 degrees. Strategically placed fans can help with the cooling, after-all our body temperatures are 98 degrees.
All new appliances are low amp. motors and seriously efficient. As for the 2 weeks of temps above 100 degrees, I fired up the natural gas 50KW generator to turn on the 4 ACs....But only long enough to bring the temps down to a comfortable level to go to sleep.

Only 400ish kilowatts for the whole month? Even with almost no AC usage how can you only use that much? I'd think lights and other "stuff" would add up to more than that.
I'm not doubting but rather just trying to make myself understand.
CFLs, Dimmer Switches, High Efficiency appliances, 4 stage pool/spa pump and plenty of windows/glass for light. The boys are on a reward system, every time I catch their rooms with lights on and no one in, they loose $2/incident off their allowance. At the end of the month if the Bill is below $350, they get an extra $5 per week. They quickly figured they are better off getting the $$$ instead of the utility company.
BTW, the biggest criminal is Flat Screens... We maximize the use of the Theater Room & Projector. Far more cheaper.
Plasmas! The green police are knocking on your gate!
