Well I went Saturday to participate in a local car show benefiting the Cancer Society, there were about 150 cars old and new.

My buddy brought his 360 Challenge Stradale, but the old GT was the top vote getter in the show!

My Ferrari buddy was not pleased:lol

The results are not suprising! :thumbsup :cheers

CONGRATS!

Here's why your GT won: Most people do not know the difference between a Stradale and a plain 360. "It's just a ferrari". If your audience was all F fans then the CS might have won (I saw might b/c there are plenty of F car owners that love the GT). But when you get to John / Jane Q Public, no car brings out the interest like the GT does.

- You rarely see GTs around (I live in the bay area and I regularly see F cars, and have yet to see a GT on the road)
- The lines are killer / classic, evoke emotions in people (I had one teenager make his mom stop her car, he gets out and says, "Mom, I need a moment, this is a Ford GT")
- US pride

+1

Well said. :thumbsup

It just never gets old.

Great pic. Your GT combined with the perfect color choice makes that Ferrari look just plain.

Congrats!! :thumbsup:thumbsup

well done...

Very nice

Congrats !
I love hearing that we smoked Ferrari AGAIN!!

I wonder if that would be even more so in Europe?

I had a similar story with a car show in the far NW valley of Phoenix. Team Jeff and I were there - my Tungsten nose-to-nose with his SP GT40 - which has a very similar color. Looked really cool seeing them together like that.

Anyway, I got a "People Vote" award and we overheard some guy that had probably poured 10 years of his life into his vintage muscle car say something like...

"He won?!!! That thing is new and completely stock! He hasn't done anything to it!"

=)

That's not the case now with the "JOYRIDE GT". Now I get even more comments.

Enjoy!

It's all in the color!

You've just touched on PART of the reason why, in my view, a person shouldn't attend any car show in search of a trophy (and I'm NOT implying/saying YOU WERE!!! 'Just making a point.). 'Better to attend just shoot the bull and see the other cars IMO, as the "rules" for trophy awards are too often just plain nutty...and often 'politics' (or, 'who knows whom') plays the biggest role. There seldom seems to be any real analytical judging process involved. EG: How does one receive the "Best in Show" award...WITHOUT having won "Best in Class" first???!:rofl I've seen this happen several times!

Faaaaaar too often all this trophy stuff results in is noses being put out of joint and what was otherwise a fun day being ruined.

Jus' my 2 cents.

Just think of the number of possible votes for a black no stripe.

Oh, thats another thread.

Damn Snow, I want to go to a car show!!!

Nice results

John

I had the same experience in Pensacola FL. Took the GT to the car show just to let people look at it since you don't see them on the road here. I also won a trophy with my Tungsten and felt bad/embarrased since all I did was drive it to the show. No polishing, no mods, no nothing. The other guys had spent hours doing who knows what to their cars.

Pockets is right in MHO. Peoples vote award is nice but many times is based on which car was the "prettiest" or had the flashiest paint.

Case in point. I was at a local car show years ago with my aluminum bodied Shelby Continuation seires which was meticulously researched and built to all original specs even down the the single stage paint. The car can pass for an original '65 427 Cobra.

My car was out voted for peoples choice by a Titanium colored fiberglass Non Shelby replica with a 351 Windsor. Apples to Apples the Car it didn't compare or hold a candle to the Shelby if you know what you are looking at and value authenticity and accuracy in originality but it won because people kept commenting they "loved" the color. Oh, well. I took the results for what they were and understood that the majority of people were judging the cars on what color pleased their eye more.

Bottom line you have what you have because its a first place winner to you. In the end thats all that matters.

Now when I do go to car shows I don't even register. Not interested in trophys. I just go because I enjoy looking at cars and talking cars with other car people.

I will say, however, it is always nice to see a FGT beat out a Ferrari regardless of venue.

I only have two trophies... My two sons...

Hey I didn't take it to the show to "win a trophy", I was just helping our local Corvette club raise money for the Cancer Society. I like car folks and really enjoyed talking to the owners of the old Vettes and Musclecars. I wasn't even paying attention when they called out the GT as winner, but there were other winners of other divisions. My car just got more votes overall than any other car, why apologize for that?

'Didn't accuse you of that!!! :rofl In fact, I specifically made the point that I WASN'T doing so to make sure you KNEW that!

Again - who said you needed to, or SHOULD??? Shoot! I have a trophy case FULL of the darn things myself! :wink :cheers

('Duzzunt change my view on how they're presented though.)
