Hi to all- this is 1st post
It's been quite awhile since I've given much thought
about waxes, polishes. etc,. Any recomendations and opinions on products currently available for car care would be appreciated. The skin on this beauty deserves my personal attention!
Thanks- Manny #1418 in Sunny South Florida

All personal taste and pocket book.

Some products:
http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
Many love it, many think its overpriced
Multi step process
A bit expensive

http://zymol.com/
How much do you want to spend? Literally $ 35 to $ 10,000
Easy on and off, smells great, like coconuts
Some say it doesn't last long on the car

http://meguiars.com/
Wide range reasonably priced
Again has its supporters and haters

http://www.mothers.com/
Similar to Meguiars, reasonably priced

http://www.lusso.com/Lusso Oro
My current favorite, yes I have tried all the others
Easy on and off
Cocnut smell
Price is $ 30-35 a jar
No residual left on car

You can find a ton more and go completely nuts

I think there are just a few critical things in waxing a car:
Use a microfibre cloth, use a clean applicator, don't over apply
Apply and remove wax on flat surfaces in a horizontal motion, no circles
On sides apply and remove vertically
This enhances the shine

Lots of luck - remember its claer coat over paint and the paint is not very well done so don't worry

Dave's given you the full round-up! I use Zymol and wax my 'exotic' cars about 4 times a year. The results are very good.

However after Dave's post I am going to give Lusso a go as he clearly knows his subject!

The one good advantage of a decent wax (apart from highlighting the pornographic curves of the GT) is that if you do take it for a cruise and it gets muddy, a quick hose down will shift the obvious dirt.

Let me know if you have problems finding the Lusso and I will send you a jar.

Dave, as always, you're a good soul.....

I can't find it in the UK and had already emailed them in Norwood NJ - but haven't had a reply.

I'd like to try it as I moved from an ordinary wax to Zymol in one step and haven't tried anything else. If Lusso is your favourite - I need to try it!!

Dave - the brown truck just showed up with the Lusso Oro. I'll try it this weekend. Perhaps, not even on the car. Got any Rum? Thanks again to all.

Re Wax

I've used Zaino on all of my cars for several years now. (Only mail order via the Net, from N.J.) I've found it very good, easy to use, long lasting and not all that expensive vs. other good products. Their series of products seem to work together very well.
In between waxes I use a spray detailer from DWG Internationbal. "Dri Wash 'n Guard". It's the best stuff around for quick and high polish gloss. (www.dwginternational.com)

Good luck.

I really like the products from Griot's garage, but right now I need to find a new mobile detail guy that knows what he is doing and shows up when scheduled.

Re: Lusso Oro

Just got done - the black stripes are now mirrors. The rest of the car looks pretty darn good also. It is very easy to apply, no residue, pleasant smell, easy to take off ( slightly harder if you start talking to your neighbors). A bit tough to note where you applied, as my car is silver, but thats me being critical.

I did note the finish has a very nice velvety feel to it. Like there's actually something protecting the paint.

On a side note - while waxing you really notice the imperfections on the paint / molding/ build quality. I suppose if thats I wanted, I would have bought a Lexus.

It looks beautiful!
