intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

drivers get tickets .

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

reprieve

After reading this and picking myself up the floor I did a little googling. Looks like the law changes 7/1/08 not 07. If it wasn't for my cell phone I wouldn't own my GT. Hope to be living in Oregon by this time next year anyway.

Here is what I have been able to find:- http://www.dmv.ca.gov/about/leg/leginfo.htm

Agree with you 100% but we're still better off than Switzerland where you have to declare your religion to the govt and pay a tax on it or in Italy where you pay a tax according to the area of your roof and pay a tax if you have a balcony on top of a sidewalk...so let's cheer up for a moment :usa

are you serious about Switzerland?????:eek

I'm pretty sure the cell phone thing starts July 1, 2008.

And I thought the fines were $25 for the first, and $50 from there on.

Please forgive me for posting information that I didn't check out personally...

I suspect the cell phone laws (driving while using) will soon be nation wide - too many kids texting while driving and crashing into other folks.

Oh this is just great! You guys are just trying to get me to go off on another of my rants arn't you! I will be out of this place long before by phone becomes as illegal as guns have.

Welcome to California, sneak in and become legal, have more babies than you can possibly afford, we'll let you vote in 12 different languages to change our laws but just don't talk on your cell while you drive or your ass is %^#$)!

Does this go into effect 2007 or 2008? Can I get a hybrid carpool lane sticker for the GT?

Damn - I was aplauding the introduction of the cellphone usage law...

... Here in LA I continually see so many driving incidents where the driver is yapping into the phone. Most cannot be bothered to put the phone down even whilst parking - it drives me nuts.

IMHO this one is long overdue.

People's republic of California

That is just the start. Wait until the people's republic of California requires hybrid GTs.

It is already aginst the law in Ca to drive the car "out of control". To me it matters not if your on a cell phone, reading the paper, putting on make-up, messing with the radio, playing grab-ass with your friends etc. If you can't multi task while you drive then don't do it. If your out of control while driving regardless of the reason, you should get a ticket.

re hoaxes - It's always wise to check with Snopes when you see stuff like this. They have a pretty good catalogue of web hoaxes that have been caught.

BTW we could use a hands free cellphone law here badly. I don't know why anyone who likes driving (or their health!) would oppose it in their region either. The retards here that drive while chatting on the ever-present phone glued to their ear cause a lot of accidents, and it has really gotten worse in the past 3 years. They swerve in and out of their lanes without even realizing it. The other day this 5 foot tall idiot woman driver came alongside me in the center lane on an undivided 2 way bridge and she was half in the on-coming traffic lane! Just managed to avoid a head-on at 50 mph. Frankly there are so many careless drivers out there who can't drive when they are NOT on their phones, so they are even worse when they are distracted. They are a danger to everyone including themselves. They may be the lowest common denominator but that's what good laws are intended to curb.
