Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

What day will the Barret Jackson GT be auctioned - anybody know?

I usually go to the NAIAS charity preview in Detroit which is on Friday 1/19 this year - and I am betting that could overlap with the GT Barret Jackson auction.

I want to go to both..

I guess no matter how well the vetting process was structured by Ford there was bound to be a few undesirables slip through. Certainly disappointing for the many, many deserving applicants who would have honoured their commitment.

The GT will be auctioned on Saturday night. That’s when the serious stuff goes up.

Thanks Chip, that is what I assumed. See you in Scottsdale!

I'll make this brief. Cars have already been sold, one of which was painfully obvious. I'm not going to get into what's being done to pursue/remedy the scenario. You've signed a notarized affidavit that has relevant language in it at the beginning of the process, then you've signed again agreeing not to sell the car for 2 years on your actual order form. You've signed your name in writing agreeing not to sell the car for at least two years. Even if you find a way to beat that, the best case scenario is that a) you're a liar and b) you're a ****ing asshole. There are definitely people who are comfortable being lying ****ing assholes for extra money. I would hope that nobody here can't make it 731 days before they sell a car. If you can't - don't buy the car. Simple as that. Let someone who wants the car, not a lotto ticket, buy it.

One of the cars sold for $2 million.

Glad to know this dirty little secret is finally getting out. Having had my order date pushed back over one year, it pissed me off big- time when I found out about a car getting flipped in Florida. A lease-to-purchase would have been a more secure way of keeping the cars with their original owners: when I had to sign a two year no sale disclosure for my McLaren back in 2012, I showed it to my lawyer and he burst out laughing, “ there’s no way anyone can stop you from selling your property in Texas, David.”

Trust me, we are NOT selling ours when we get it! But I can tell you, I sincerely doubt, I will ever have another opportunity in my life, to make ~$1.5m in 6-9 months (legally, paying taxes, and staying within acceptable risk tolerance). Obviously others took the gains, over an agreement, legally binding or only figuratively binding (doesn't matter which).

My 06 GT and the new GT will be my kids decision of whether to sell or not once I'm off to the big race track in the sky. We all knew deep down this would happen to a couple of them. Just too much desirability and too few available. Like all the rest of you, I will continue to be certain that no one from our group will sell before the agreed two years of ownership. I believe we were all sincere when we gave our word to Raj at Rally 10 and will hold true to that. Ford Brand Ambassador's every last one of us.

Who was it? When was it?

google is failing me.. or I'm failing with google.

Out of 1000 people that will get a FGT there has to be a few losers. Integrity, honor, your word - a few things that people have given their lives for and some people have given up for money.

"Honor was never taking the easy way when it was also the wrong one. Never telling a falsehood unless the truth was painful and unnecessary, or a lie was necessary to save others. Never manipulating the truth to serve only yourself. Protecting the weak and helpless; standing fast even when fear made you weak. Keeping your word." Mercedes Lackey

I just got my CF ordering kit. Now I'm going to agonize over all the choices of a bespoke car. No effing way would I spend all this mental energy on something that I'm passionate about...and then flip it. I had my '05 at a C&C recently and some fat cat got wind that I had a NFGT allocation. In a round about way he was hinting at a "deal" so he could get one. I told him I had 50k miles on my '05 and that I intended to use the NFGT the same way. I think he got the message.

That's not what you said at the Roulette table - come on RED! :biggrin

I think the people who might be most upset about the sale of the car would be the dealers who would have wanted the opportunity to sell these at much higher than MSRP prices.
