Hello Everyone;

This is my first post to this forum and unfortunately it's not what i'd call good news. I snapped the axle bolts off of one side of my GT and am having ford put the fomoco kit in.Has anyone heard of a failure with the ford replacement bolts?

bolts

There are several threads on it and I believe they have been merged into one several times. The failure is still fairly rare but Ford is about to annouce a plan to remedy the situation. We have been told that is forthcoming. There are also vendors such as accufab that have a good replacement kit. Please see those threads for additional info.. good luck with it.

Oh, yes. There's an entire thread on this here on the Forum.

Bottom line: Use Accufab replacement bolts at LEAST until Ford releases their PERMINENT fix which is due to be released this fall.

Thaks for the info. apparently the threads in one hole are screwed so the tech is waiting for a tap to clean them out, then i'll put accufab bolts in myself!

There have been numerous reports of the same cars breaking the bolts more than once. I spoke with a gentlemen in Miami who had his break twice. I would use the Accufab bolt kits which incorporate ARP brand bolts. Do a search to see the heavily discussed topic..

Good advise, lets close this thread.
