anyone uses the SCT LiveWire device on the GTs?

Hi

I have a question re: SCT LiveWire functionality on our GTs- does it measure HP & Torque, specifically, and other Performance Monitoring features such as 1/4; 1/2 mile time, and 0-60mph time? I'd like to find out if anyone has used LiveWire to measure these items on their GTs, as I'm trying to determine if it is simply my device not functioning properly or is it that the LiveWire is not compatible to our GTs to do such measurement.

I attempted several time to use the device to check the HP and Torque of my car (I know it would not be very precise, but I bought it and it is supposedly able to do that why not...). However, the device would always show 0 value for the HP and Torque measurement. I've even confirmed with SCT that the procedures I used for the attempts were correct. Since I haven't been able to read the HP & TQ measurement, I haven't ventured to try the 1/4; 1/2 mile time or the 0-60 mph time.

Thx

Ed

Frank you are confusing GTED with EP. :lol

Frank,

Oh yeah, minor detail...:bored

Seriously, I can't be the only one who uses the LiveWire on the GT. Anyone, anyone.....

I can't get mine to work either. I have not had time to fiddle with it. The marketing info lists Ford GT. When I get some time to try it again, if it does not work, then I will call them and see what the heck is going on. It won't measure the MAF under monitor mode either. At the moment it is not of much value.

That is solely because the Gasoline.DLF file on the device doesn't contain every single PID/DMR for every conceivable Ford vehicle. You can use Livelink to connect to the device across the vehicle and pick what you want to monitor / gauge on the device and you can watch whatever you like including MAF AD Counts .

I can understand to a certain degree that there is a limitation to the Gasoline file that came with the device, such that it can not monitor MAF. However, I don't understand why the device failed to monitor the performance, such as those being advertised that the device is able to do. Worse yet, no one connected to the purchase of my device could explain why or get the device to do what it is advertised able to do.

I tried selecting MAF voltage one time and MAF counts another. No worky. It monitors timing, tach, water temp, ETC ... no MAF that I can find. I could not get it to measure HP and Torq but did not try very hard. I have not had much time to work with it. The manual is sketchy. The picture of the unit on the manual looks like great stuff. Just can't seem to get there from here. Maybe that was a mustang's data.

I've got one in my car too... either I'm too stupid, or it's too complex... 'cause mine won't register either.

I was able to upload the new custom fuel/timing maps with it and that function works great, but otherwise, I've just given up on it for data.

If you reread what I wrote and use livelink to create your own personal DLF file for the device and do not use the one that is preloaded you can log whatever you wish. I know this as fact because I have done it on my GT. You just need to have the device plugged into the vehicle KOEO connected to a PC and go thru the PID selection with livelink. Then you can save the new DLF file to the device and gauge whatever you want afterwards.

Now as for why the HP/TQ monitor isn't functioning on the GT properly I cannot answer at this point in time. I never field tested that one function. But I have more devices inbound and will sort it all out here shortly if the rain ever stops.

Were do we get instructions on how to use the PC with this thing? The manual mentions connecting a PC with the USB cable that didn't come with it but does not say what to do. I don't want to honk it or my car up.

I just activated the account of an SCT tech so he should be answering shortly.

Thanks Dave.

I just tested a new unit on my car to see if it would monitor VSS = Vehicle speed which is an absolute necessity for the HP/ TQ function to work and it reads invalid. SCT is working on a fix for this and that will roll out here shortly since we have finally pinpointed the exact issue.

This by no means impacts any other function of the device.

I don't know if it is the same number, but in Livelink when I monitor speed it tops out at 127 (8 bits). Of course this was done on a dyno an not on the road. :biggrin

In addition to VSS you tested for functionality for monitoring hp & tq, does VSS impact the functionality for the other monitoring features such as, 1/4; 1/2 mile time; 0-60; 0-100...?

Your testing of the device will no doubt help all the GT LiveWire users! :thumbsup

Those items are dependent on that data as well and won't work until the next device update. Then all will function !

We are working on that issue right know and I don't have a ETA on when it will be fixed. Thanks
