Is it a Heritage?

Hey Manny, this is closer to your neck of the woods :biggrin I am not sure if I can make down this weekend ?

Is it a Heritage?

I bet it is. Been for sale for a LONG time. Something fishy IMHO. The car is here in the US, but they want you to wire the money to an overseas acct. Not sure if this is the one he is talking about, but if it is, I know of two other parties that have gone to look at it and came back empty handed....

Yes...Heritage. Feel free to pm me if you have some info on the car.
Thanks

Thanks

I have pretty much spilled the beans on everything I already know. I personally cant comment as I havent seen it with my own eyes. Here is what I have been told.

1. There are some slight paint defects (dont know what, just what I am told)

2. The owner supposedly lives out of country. He has a rep here in the states that I have talked to a couple times. Only payment they accept is wire transfer to an overseas acct which I think makes 95% of the people that inquire (including me) shy away from this car. If you own a car that is currently in the states, it seems you would have a way to accept a payment to an account here in the states. Why can his REP not accept the payment here in the states and further credit it to the owner of the car??

3. I know of at least two people that were extremely interested in buying it, but did not. One of them, I know went to take a look and did not buy it. Why they did not I do not know, but I know they flew half way across the country to see it so I am pretty sure they were a serious buyer. The other person told me that the whole deal just spooked them and that the story on the car kept changing as they inquired deeper so they also did not buy it after looking into it quite hard.

The information above in section numbered "2" is first hand knowledge as I inquired on the car 3 or 4 months ago when it first showed up on the market and thats the exact information I got from the guy that answered the phone number on the ad.

The information in section 3 is information I got directly from the two people I know that were serious about buying the car.

If everything checks out on the car, and you are comfortable wiring money overseas for a car located in the US, then the car is a GREAT buy!!!!

I want to clearify that it is NOT my intent to talk you out of buying this car. You just seem to be fishing for information on this car and I am telling all I know.

MY SUGGESTION, tell the seller that you will pay with a cashiers check that he can verify BEFORE you show up to purchase the car. Once cashiers check is verified by the seller, show up with cashiers check in hand. If the car passes your inspection, take the car AND title with you at that time and give the sellers rep the cashiers check. This way you are totally covered. If all works out, you got a great deal on a low mileage heritage. :thumbsup

My 2 Cents...

The owner may be a US citizen that lives overseas. The original purchase of the car could have been made with $ that were not subjected to US Taxes, which is very common. One way to check, is to see if the car is registered, if it is not registered, then I'll bet its all about tax maneuvering. If someone does not register a car, then there is no paper trail, just as if you bought a $200K diamond and sold it when you needed the funds. If you can get the name of the owner, then run a Lexus Nexus on him.

As far as securing your funds, get an attorney to draft an escrow transaction which would cost approximately 1/2 a point. In the escrow instructions, the rep will have to sign for the transaction with a Notary present at a mutual Bank where the wire is transacted.

Purchasing goods from international sources happen all the time and I would not let a good deal get away. On the other hand, if the car has issues, only an inspection would divulge that.

Good luck with the purchase and the hunt.

Its been registered in Florida. Has florida tags.....
Also, I agree with you HH as I do many overseas transactions. This one just has too many BUT's for me.

Anyone know what the price is? Just curious, I already have a Heritage.

Would you be interested in an Orange Tesla instead?:biggrin

Yikes!!!!! Scary. I'm going to proceed with extreme caution.
If anyone else has any info...please pass it on.
Still looking for anyone to go check the car out...you can pm or email if you like.

Thanks again guys

as asked a few posts up, what is mileage and what is price they are asking

I'd run take a look for ya, but I'm a bit under the weather, and that's an hour drive for me. What did you want someone to look at, just an overview of it's condition and a check of all the systems?

Paint and other slightly off things were minor. These are handbuilt cars and many have little "somethings". If this is the car I saw, it was my opinion that the car was sound. It was very low mileage as well, under 200 at that time. As this is not 50 bucks we are talking about I recommended a thorough inspection and gave some guidance on who could be helpful. I was not aware of the odd payment request.
