I was at Jim Doves place a few months ago and took some pics with my phone of a 427FE head mold. Jim said this is the mold Ford used to make the heads on the motors in the GT40 cars that ran at Le Mans. Jim acquired all of Fords FE molds and tooling in the 70's. Just thought I would share the pics. CJ

Did you see the article about the 427 cammer assembled from all new parts in Hot Rod a couple of months ago? Best article ever.

I would love to build a 69 Dynacorn Mustang and stuff a cammer in it, or see if it would fit in the superformance GT40.

Very cool, Thank you for posting the pictures.
Mike

So would I - but in NC it would be titled as a 2009+ KIT CAR!

bastards....... :thumbsdow

Yeah, but a CAMMER in a Superformance GT40 would be totally awesome. I've read that Ford actually shoehorned a Cammer in a MkII '40 and although the handling left something to be desired, the acceleration results were staggering. It would be incredible to have an aluminum SOHC in a Sformance car.

I have a aluminum SOHC from Dove.Going to supercharge it & put it in a street rod.I have all the parts to build the motor this winter.:biggrin

WOW!

I added up the prices from the hot rod article. It looked like around $21,500. They dynoed it at 803hp all motor, but it was quite a bit larger than 427.

The guy thaqt authored the article went to drag week or the power tour a couple of years ago with a GT. I think his name is Jay Brown. Maybe on the forum.

Hopefully the picture of my other favorite Ford engine will be inserted in this response. This is in my 1969 NASCAR Talladega.

A couple of months back they had a blurb about boss 9 heads available for the 429/460 block. New parts. I think it was Jon Kasse racing.

Yep, John Kasse has the BOSS 9 heads. This stuff is awesome, would like to see a GT-40 w/SOHC in it!

I'd like to see a comparison of stock Boss 429 and SOHC 427 outputs. I have to believe the shotgun was lighter than the SOHC, but an all aluminum SOHC would probably be hard to beat.

Mocked up the cammer today just for fun. Think I should put it in the mustang?:biggrin

CJ, Looks great.:eek Keep us posted. Are the towers cut? I would like to see finished photos when installed.
Thanks, David

CJ428,

As much as I love blown V8s. I think an injected or turboed SOHC427 would be INCREDIBLE. An no hole through the hood... ;-)

Personally, I'm a fan of the '67 Shelby Mustangs. Cleaner look on the hood, grille, and taillights, IMHO. However, that's about the best looking '68 GT500 I've ever seen; don't know if it's the paint color or lack of stripes, but the car looks dynamite. If you can fit the SOHC, do it! The car would be a killer beast, with or without the blower!

I was just teasing. have a 428 I'm going to put together with a chrome webber set up to go in this one.Next week I will attempt to put a Heidt's mustang II front suspension on it then set the motor & 6 speed tranny in place and fab up some mounts. I'll post progress in the other cars section.
