2014 Corvette C7


You guys are harsh. I think they did a great job with this car. I even like the rear. At least they went with something new. The instrument cluster is awesome. I'm not a fan of the two tone interior but I think they did a better job distinguishing this generation's interior from the rest of the line-up. I wish they would have done something special with the engine bay (like the ZR1) but they had a limited budget and I feel like they spent the money well. I love the stingray emblem too.

I can't believe the taillights aren't round.. or roundish. Boo on that, otherwise thumbs up. Really I’m just glad the vette still exists, and the viper, and the hyper stangs too. Forget any prejudices about any certain brand, car life would be much duller without em.

Edit: I love the stingray badge too. Seems so obvious now, but original.
 
Just looking at the cell phone pics I took it looks a lot different. Things stick out and blend in much differently in real life. The creases in the door looked super pronounced in the pics from reveal night. Not nearly so in person. You're definitely going to have to see it live to judge.

I still think it looks DTM tough. That's the worst angle though.
 
And here we are 7 years later and if you put a Ford GT in that group, it would still be the biggest head turner.
 
DBK that grey back angle is epic!

One issue is base C6 new is like $43K (all rebates / dealer cash)

So it's a $43k car v. A $53k car...though most look at monthly payments
 
Base C6 is at $49,600 right now. I would expect at least $5k on top with the new content, but you never know. Some people are speculating closer to $10k, but they've always managed to keep the base price pretty low. At the end of the day, I don't think the price will matter much. It still cheap for what it does, and they are always available under sticker in a matter of months from the mega dealers. When I bought my Z06, the dealer had 16-17 on the lot.

That much is the truth. Ford is dumb for not building a real sports car.

We were at the Ford & Lincoln displays early in the evening and left for Ford Field around 9pm. We looked for you, saw Kip and some others.

And (selfishly) I'm glad there is no continuation for our cars... rather see a blockbuster run of high profit trucks. Buy a second GT from Shelby. :biggrin

Lincoln was an absolute madhouse by 8 pm. That MKC was actually very nice. First execution of that grille that looks good. Still, Farley must have handed out bribes to get that many people to be in there. I've never seen it like that. Talked to Mr. Mulally for a minute. He really is incredible. He remembers everything. Said he was worried he'd fallen off the e-mail list because I hadn't emailed him in a while. Coming from a guy that probably gets 1500 emails a day :lol

Haven't you heard? There's a new GT coming soon. It's going to be hybrid/electric. Should be here in 2014!
 
The poor viper looks like a bunch of parts that make up a whole, whereas the vette and the NSX design just flow from front to back. I have to admit the SLS is a bit to broken up too but it has a certain je ne sais quoi, that makes you want it anyway.

Hardly a Viper fan but I'm still surprised by that difference in interest level/audience between it and the base C7 Corvette.

Maybe it's because the Viper has already been introduced and is old news by new car show standards, I dunno.

The market will speak downstream as it always does.

I think the Viper had a number of things working against it. Corvette is a more radical styling departure, Corvette is much, much cheaper at this point and is therefore something more people at these shows will actually buy, Corvette is a big volume car by sports car standards so it's more important when it changes, old Corvette inexplicably drubbed the new Viper in the first comparison so there was probably some letdown that it isn't a shockingly outrageous performance beast vs. all comers, etc.

People always mob the high end sports cars, so I was a little surprised that the Viper didn't seem to have more than a small handful of people in front of it. They had a yellow one on the floor as well at the Mopar stand and when we looked at it, there were literally only 4 of us around it. I also didn't think the Viper display choices did it any favors. They had a solid red and the solid yellow one tucked around the corner. I probably would have put out something with stripes.
 
The top #1 or #2 Corvette U.S. dealers will give you a base 2013 C6 for $43-44K...McMulkin, Kerbeck, etc

MSRP was $50,500

Its Invoice ~$47K:

-Supplier price ~$45K
-Dealer cash -$1000-2500
-USAA, GM Card etc

I factory ordered my 2012 and got updates as it came down line...was actually done on Aug 9...my b-day

Wire pmt was $43.5K...plastic still on seats, carpet, all stickers, build sheets, etc

Even threw in free delivery so no courtesy deliver via local GM dealer for $250-500
