I don't agree with the fines being based on wealth. That means you expect wealthy people to obey the laws, but poorer people to just ignore them. I guess the best solution in those countries is to be chauffeured by a "poor" person and have them drive without any concerns at all.

And you guys bad mouth the lawyers here in the US. Sucks either way. Maybe he can request a grant from their stimulus package.
i don´t think that he have to pay such a big amount. As i heard in the news the guy was sorry about such a speed because his odometer was not working so the swiss authorities will now check the car. If this would happen in France the guy would be treated as a criminal , the car would be sold on auction for a good cause an the driver would stay in jail.

France is pretty bad these days if you speed - I drive very cautiously in your country!
That guy's 'broken speedometer' excuse is L-A-M-E. When one is passing other traffic LITERALLY like it's standing still (OR IT'S BACKING UP), that ought to be a dead giveaway that one is doing at LEAST 'twenty over'. I mean, COME ON. Who does he think he's kiddling?
