03 SRT10 Convertible

So I drove a 03 SRT10 conv. today and had a few questions. It seemed a little twitchy to me like the power steering is too sensitive, also how good is the ac in this car? Is the B/M short shifter worth it? It only had 8500 miles on it.

SRT-10 cars are gonna be much different that what you are used to driving. They are kind of cramped, steering is overly easy and they love to grab the flat spots in the road. They are really more of a race car IMHO.

Thanks Shelby, this describes my driving experience perfectly. It heat soaked the interior it took a long time before the ac started actually doing anything.

Can you guys recommend some mods and where to buy?

SRT 10 Vipers are alot more refined than the Gen I or Gen II body style. As far as being cramped, I fit in them great, If you are over 6"2 they make a seat lowering kit for 1" so you have more head room. The only reason the car would grab would be if the camber/caster/tow is off or if the tires are worn. When the tires on the Vipers get lower than 6/32nd's new is 11/32nd's they will definetly pull on any grooves on the road, I would check the tire tread depth.
I am the largest reseller of Dodge Vipers in North America and would be happy to help you in your quest or if you have any questions that Shelby can't answer feel free to call 1-800-270-1608

Purely my 2 cents. I am NOT a Viper expert but have owned one and driven several. Mine was an 01 which is a different car from the 03 up. Cumbersome comes to mind. Not an agile, crisp car. A friend once said they sound like a bread truck...I'm thinking more like a UPS truck to me. If they were seeking out the old "Cobra" appeal they missed it. For whatever reason (blame it on the government required safety features, airbags, 5mph bumpers, ABS brakes ,a/c, power steering or whatever) but it just feels "heavy". I do not get the same feeling driving my Cobra. Never cared for the wide door sills and the wide center tunnel (console). Reaching across to the passenger door is a bit of work. I think "bucket" seats should be close together (personal I guess). To me, it was just flat out work driving the car....not fun. The Ford GT is a joy to drive in comparison. This is coming from a guy that has driven just about everything on the planet.

I sold my 01 and bought an 08 and they are two different cars. However, the 01 GTS was a great car, warm after driving a little, but it was a lot more work. The 08s raaae much more refined, FGT is much more refined than any viper, but the viper is a fantastic automobile, at least the newer SRT10s are.
