Anything to watch out for ? Build date 12/05 ?

I own #1966 which I believe was built in Nov. 05. Bought it in Aug '06 and with about 1,500 miles have had zero problems so far.

GT Wins Lamborghini Dallas Car Show

Bony, Excellent. Here's my email address for when the event (Aug. 31 - Sept 1) gets closer. Hope others who plan to be at Goodwood then will connect with us too.

GT Wins Lamborghini Dallas Car Show

Neilda, Does this mean that the Goodwood Revival is likely to be dreary? I've made plans to go this year for the first time.

    The Best License Plate?

I like mine best (same as my forum name -- see avatar. I know that there are others here who recognize the name of the great, if fictional, GT40 driver, Jean-Louis Duroc.

Steering Wheel Hub for the Car that has Everything (else)

I've watched with admiration as entrepreneurial types have developed the aftermarket for the Ford GT but nobody yet to my knowledge has come up with the item that would please me most -- a replacement or overlay steering wheel hub resembling the original(see attached gt40 interior photo). What...

Through the Streets of Paris - Ferrari 265 GTB - Anyone want to try this in a GT?

Dr. Harms isn't the only one who liked "A Man and a Woman," especially the test track scene, as you (who have seen it) can tell from my name.

Looks no worse -- maybe better -- than the Ferrari 599 GTB.

    Really Interesting Historical reading

Thanks very much for this post. The pictures confirm that the racing cars of the mid sixties (esp. our GTs and the Ferrari 250 LMs against which they raced) where the most beautiful cars of all times, IMHO.

List of tips for new owners- did I miss anything?

My contributions: -- 17.5 gallon gas tank is smaller than many. Watching the gas gauge gives a false impression of poor gas mileage. In fact, mileage is good but you do need to be careful when you are below 1/4 tank and there are long distances between gas stations. -- double declutching gets...

    $400 oil change

Discussed this with service manager who said, "Yes, I'm comfortable with that bill. It took all that time to remove the valence -- 40 bolts -- and drain the oil at three points." That plus what some of you have told me leads me to retreat from being pissed off. Labor rates are high in the New...

    $400 oil change

Had my first oil change at 950 miles. Serviced at the dealership that sold me the car. Filter $34, 10 quarts oil $86, 3 hours labor (!) $280 =$400. Is that typical or did they charge me for not knowing how to do it?

    vin number decoder

See the recent thread titled "Kindergarten Question" in which I asked the same thing you just did. Nielda kindly supplied a pdf of a Ford GT-specific technical write-up which decodes the VIN.

    Steering Wheel hub

No, not a tech problem -- just a thought about style. One thing that caught my eye in the Sports and Classic Cars GT 40 magazine article is that the kit cars they showed had interiors that very much resembled the original '60s cars. For the most part they were crude in a way we wouldn't expect...

    Kindergarten question

This is wonderfully helpful. Many thanks. Do I read it right -- if the last digits for my car are 401966, does that mean that it was the 1,966th car built? The 1,966th in that year (2005)?

    Kindergarten question

What information is contained in the VIN number? Build sequence number? Build date? Anything else? Nothing at all? Sorry to bother you with this but I'm clueless.
