Is the new GT500 faster than the Ford GT if both were on the same tires? Someone mentioned that the 04 and 05 track test times in the GT would be a lot faster today with the new stickier tires that come on high performance vehicles. It made sense to me.

DBK has quoted 257 from the Ford GT and 258 from the 11/12 GT500 svt pack at VIR with Gene at the wheel. I have yet to hear of a faster LS time.

Without a doubt. How much depends on a lot factors. Why GM would not run both cars on brand new tires we will never know. Specifically for a supposed independent test!
