Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

One little aside regarding BendPak: Unless the clearances they cite in their diagrams have been 'updated' in the last 8 years-or-so, be advised that the clearance they claim exists beneath the hoist when it's at max lift is overstated. I'm going to make up clearance figures here because I...

Electric cars and the impact on the environment

'A trivial aside...but one that irritates me to no end: According to various sources, the Porsche Taycan won't have the suicide rear doors seen on the concept. Cynic that I am, I'm betting it won't have the concept's 4 race-style buckets and full-length console either. 'All just cosmetic crap...

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

Unotaz undoubtedly had lifting 'standard size' cars in mind when he cited those ceiling heights, Beez. ;-)

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

Eeeeeeh! Consider offloading the cars before spraying, then! No guts, no glory, Doc. ;-)

There's always the Krylon 'rattle can' option, Doc...☝

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

Aaaaaaah, I see they've changed the color. Mine's blue... ..."butt puckeringly scary as hell...." My thought as well. But, "different strokes".

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

You've probably already seen it on their webpage, but, BendPak also makes a far less 'gimmicky' double-wide that lifts two cars toether (no independent cable lifts). Unless for some reason you either need or just plain WANT the independent hoisting feature, the 'simpler' double-wide should save...

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

If push comes to shove, a 'roll up'-style garage door will totally eliminate that issue. 'Bit 'pricey' though. If I remember correctly, my 18 footer was just a touch under $10K installed.

    Car blower/dryer

It's a Toro "Super Blower". They're only made in 'power cord' form...at least that was the case when I bought mine. (The label attached to the unit reads, "up to 215 mph"...but my guess is that would be possible only if the unit were operated in a 100 mph tailwind...OR one used compressed air...

    Car blower/dryer

I've used a 120 mph leaf blower for the last few years now. Works like a champ. Takes only a couple minutes to blow dry my full size P/U. 'Cost a little over $100 as I recall.

What Unusual comments have you had?

Aaaaah, but remember, the '05/'06s had/have "Ford GT" on their sill stripes next to their front tires and people STILL asked, "What is it?" 😉

FOX News has just announced the same: https://www.foxnews.com/auto/mid-engine-chevrolet-corvette-confirmed-for-2020-will-debut-july-18 (I'm not caring much for its silhouette...in 'camo' anyway.)

    Rotating seat for new GT

April 1st or not, doing something like that would be great - assuming there's actually ROOM for the seat to pivot in place...and I have serious doubts about that. I recall pivoting seats being featured on Chryslers and DeSotos waaay back when dinosaurs roamed...'might have been available on...

M2K 299.2 in one mile!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the Texas Mile

This post caused me to 'hark back' several years to the time a debate was going on here about whether or not the FGT's aero would keep it on the ground at speeds approaching, at, or over 300. 'Twould appear that's been settled now! ;-)

    10,000 miles

Sometimes one gets hit regardless. Wifey did look and got T-boned anyway ('long story). If she hadn't taken the time to 'look' before proceeding, she would have entered the intersection at least one second-or-so sooner and she and my grandson (seated behind her) would both very likely have been...
