I have 2 and neither came with clips, I was able to shorten the post and I was thinking of clips to hold it on, but would like it to not ruin the mesh.

I have one for my car. What is the best way to mount it, being pot metal, you cannot tap it. Also, what about some sort of felt to protect the mesh screen?
