I already spoke with Auto Meter. They said if the failure rate is anywhere near 5%, he couldn't imagine Ford not doing something. Well... Ford??? Are you hearing this? We have 40 failures out of 1,000 members= 4%. Possibly more because there is no way to know if there are failures not...

Valid point. The problem is when a part, in this case the tach, has an unusually high failure rate of 4%, the burden should not be placed on the customer to pony up three grand for a band-aid fix. What happens when the part fails a second time? If it fails outside of the 12 month part warranty...

The gauge replacement wasn't too high six months ago when standj paid $389. The only way a manufacturer can get away with a 500% price increase is when they know their customers have no alternatives. I wonder if this is part of how Ford just recorded 2 billion in profits? Is the gauge pricing...

Do you know the pricing from six months ago? Is it possible that Ford increased the price from $500 (sounds about right for a GT tach) to $2700 (sounds like a group of accountants in a room thought sticking it to the people who can afford $150,000 cars is a great idea).

What are the chances Bob Ida will start manufacturing Ford GT tachometers for less than the $2700 Ford is currently charging?

Auto Meter is contractually obligated not to repair or sell GT tach's to anyone but Ford Motor Company.

According to the person I spoke with at Auto Meter, "It is pretty rare for an Auto Meter tach to break down after such a short period of time. This particular unit was built to Ford's specification and doesn't really share its components with our off the shelf product." I understand it is not up...

Great point. Still I feel gauges in cars (not to mention $150,000 factory-flagship supercars), that are as well taken care of as our are, shouldn't be failing. I feel terrible for BillyGT that is doing the troubleshooting for Ford. Keeping fingers crossed Lance makes headway with the Ford...
