    Tire Warning

If you order tires from The Tire Rack, as I do, always ask for the "freshest" tires they can find for you. They DO actually look through the tires and get you newer ones. I always tell them its because the Open Road Racing people look at the date codes. (Which they do.) Richard Hille The GT School

    Tire Warning

Right now the only real choice for GTs is to go with the Bridgestones for stock wheels or a number of other choices if you change wheels size. Regarding the Mustang with the 34 year old tires, a short story. A gentleman from England purchased a early 60's Jaguar XKE in the United States. He had...

    Tire Warning

Ralphie, I have been fighting this fight for almost thirty years. I was told, many years ago, by a tire expert that had worked for Dunlop for 32 years, that tires should be thrown away after they are eight years old. He believed that all tires should be manufactured with an expiration date...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

Gentlemen (and ladies?), I am posting the item below for my friend Mike Borders. As an additional item, we are looking at setting up a new GT School on the 3rd & 4th of March just before the Mojave Mile Event. The track will also have an open test day on the 5th for those desiring more track...

Bridgestone tires - thumbs up !

GTED, Either front will work fine. The 235 will fit just as the factory intended. The 265 will give you a slightly quicker turn in so you will feel the car react a bit more quickly to steering input. As long as you have a (Y) speed rating, the parentheses are extremely important, you should be...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

LarryS, If they approve the driver for a 190 MPH limit, they will allow a completely 100% stock Ford GT to go as fast as it is capable of going in a one mile acceleration run which is about 170ish MPH. That said, if you are running the completely stock class "Z" and your Helmet and driver's...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

LarryS, Maybe what you are asking is unrelated to the cars capabilities. If you are running a Ford GT in this event, you will need - five or six point harness, a fire extinguisher and a nomex (or equivalent) driver's suit and of course an approved helmet. Maybe that's what you were asking...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

LarryS, A completely stock GT, like mine, is allowed to go 190 mph if the driver has the experience and/or past racing background to match that. The car itself will probably run about 170 +/- MPH in the mile. Richard Hille The GT School

Has anyone ever rebuilt their motor and converted to a normally aspirated setup?

I don't even know if this is possible with the GT engine, but I was reading on another site about a guy who took a GM Northstar engine and swapped the cylinder heads side for side so that the intake ports were on the outside of the block and the exhausts were in the "V". That would really look...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

By the way Gentlemen, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting with Shadowman this past Saturday at his fine facility. I had intended to just drop off some wheels and then take a peek around. I ended up spending about three and a half hours talking with Bill and TriHeart7 (Who had his new SHO...

    First Annual Mojave Mile Event

Gentlemen, I just got off the phone with Mike Borders. He made me an offer for all Ford GT drivers with either a stock Ford GT or with up to a pulley and tune. If you compete AND break your 190 MPH speed limit, he will refund your entry fee. Just something for you guys that do not have Whipples...

Preparing for 185+ mph speeds safely...

Derry, The ZR rating is for any tire rated to over 149 MPH. The (Y) rating, not the Y rating, is for tires capable of over 186 MPH. The specific tire capability is only available from the manufacturer. I believe the Bridgestones that our Forum members are recommending are tires used on other...
