Easy to Replace the Front Splitter?

The supports are ~6" long and constructed pretty much exactly like the stand-off rods you can see under the clamshell. In the late 2005 and all 2006 cars (with the open grill), you can feel these rods as they are located immediately behind the vertical supports of the grill. If you really...

Speedometer failure right after airbag recall. - Coincidence?

The short story.... with a few "allegedly's": Ford had originally subcontracted the gauges to Autometer and the gauge control module to a different company. When gauge failures started to appear, a LOT of finger pointing started to occur - and likely continues to this day. Autometer CONTINUES...

Hello everyone. i just bought my 2006 Ford GT last month.

Most if not all states have abandoned dyno testing and instead are relying on the OBD2 compliant internal tests that the OEMs are required to incorporate into the ECU software to insure that the vehicle remains compliant over its lifespan. In brief, there are one of 3 "states" that the emission...

Speedometer failure right after airbag recall. - Coincidence?

Joe's experience was the last straw. The (very competent) shop that we had doing the speedo/tach repairs was using Speedhut internal components but there were quality issues that speedhut simply has not been attentive to. The primary issue has been slow movement on some repairs - something that...

Hello everyone. i just bought my 2006 Ford GT last month.

Welcome Mechanical1 and congratulations on your purchase. The Ford GTs are NOT problematic to get smogged. The catalytic converters are HUGE and very effective. We've dealt with other performance cars and getting them to pass smog is sometimes a real headache... but the GT should not be...

Hi all. I'm looking to have rears in stock in about 10 days from now. I'll put a posting up as soon as they are available with a link for ordering!

2006 Ford GT Oilpump and Serpentine Belts

Trying to answer a few questions.... I agree that you don't get all of the coolant out when draining at the radiator petcocks. However, that's the process we follow. We don't remove the plugs in the block. Will you get more coolant out? Yes. But, it's a real mess and, imo, not worth it...

2006 Ford GT Oilpump and Serpentine Belts

We are (were) changing the oil pump belts on every GT coming through here throughout the last 18 months or so. I would just think it is prudent to change the oil pump belt every 15-years. That's not too much, right? However, Ford has NO oil pump belts in stock nationwide as of this posting -...

New Source for Clamshell & Bonnet Gas Struts

Yes, thanks for asking. After an initial surge of orders, we'll get used to a normal sales cadence and also the cadence from the supplier. In doing so, we can always have a "fresh" batch available. Remember, the reason that we started down this path is because we had purchased too many "new"...

    Need a boost gauge

Simply call Autometer and navigate to sales on their phone line. Tell them you would like part number 880595 for the Boost Gauge. (Ironically, we installed one into an owner's car earlier today!) Have whoever does the install blue-tape the heck out of the bezel that forms the hood for the...

    Titanium Lug Nut Wrench

Not sure why someone chose to delete my previous post, but these are the EXACT same made-in-China sockets sold by Harbor Freight for 1/2 the price. If you want to pay twice as much for the same product, knock yourself out.

    Bridgestone replacement source

I could almost see "older" tires for the fronts as that is a much more common size - but the rears have been occasionally out of stock for a few weeks at a time and then they seem to get new inventory which I have presumed is from Bridgestone. With our low volume, I doubt we get preferential...

    Bridgestone replacement source

Strange. We have been purchasing these tires from TireRack - maybe at a rate of one set every 6-8 weeks and recently front and rears have been 2019 date codes.

God bless, Andy. SO glad you shared the story but especially happy for the great outcome. You have more GT evangelism in front of you!

    changing the battery

I would seriously doubt that. We've installed 3-4 Group 25's in the past 5-6 weeks. Make sure the foot is on correctly.

    changing the battery

There shouldn't be any problem to do this. Make sure the battery is all the way forward and make sure the "foot" a the end of the long bolt is on correctly. We've done dozens of replacements and always get them clamped in well.

    Question about Sensors

No, I never ordered anything from Rock Auto - I just threw it out there to see what would happen. Give me a break. Take a look at the site. It's unique in that it often provides you multiple different options for the same part - each at a different price point. Actual Motorcraft parts are...
