I'm not sure I would consider the ring an investment grade opportunity. It's a public road, right (that's why it's open on some days). Remember, if it were really an investment, it wouldn't be for sale.

I may be an investment if you could develop the land to maximizes it value. I have to believe the government will have a lot a say in what the new owners can do. Running it as a track is a loser!

Yep, needs a medieval castle theme park built around it, sell it as condos with the track as the back yard.

That works only if the condo owners are not like the ones in CA who complain about the track noise even when they are miles away! Then sound restrictions become a sad reality. :thumbsdown

I was thinking of a set up similar to an "airpark" where your garage for your plane enters from your back yard runway. A group was trying to do an auto race park along those lines but it fizzled when the economy tanked. The Ring would be a cool place to drive into your (back side) garage door, dontcha think?

I've got all of my cash safely invested in my Cyprus bank accounts.

Why they have a negative rate of return as do all US banks when adjusted for taxes and inflation?

:lol

A: Will it make money every year on ave?
B: Is this one of those investments where one borrows the entire 175 mil(or however much) and then sell it for 500 mil. when you can make the payments on the mortgage(much like the Dodgers)?

They didn't finalize all of the details yet, that why the banks are closed until Thursday so that you cannot withdraw you money.

I'll be there Friday and will try to talk them out of it.

...It's a public road, right....

No, it's not.

The Ring will never make money. Too big with too much upkeep and too little use. The mistake was clearly trying to turn it into some type of automotive Disneyland. I've been to that mega visitors center and walked through it like it was a ghost town. It's hard enough to stay in business running a small, dedicated race circuit, let alone that whole adventure.

They should just jack up GM's rental rates to like $5 million a day. If Joel Ewanick hadn't been canned, I bet they would pay it.

Just spilled my coffee.... Dave, you need to tell us how you really feel. :rofl:rofl

Hey, it's the cornerstone of their marketing strategy and he was clearly a big spender while it lasted. :lol

"Wait, so you mean you're upset we're going to pay $600 million to put our name on shirts of a team that plays in a market we don't sell cars in?"

My brain still hurts thinking about that sum of money being spent that way.

It's too early in the morning to be rational, I am still laughing so hard I can't type.

But, I'll ask,... so how do you think (Joel's) replacement is working out so far?? I heard over the weekend that GM was considering reverting to hiring brand managers from consumer products. I think about that period (90's) every time I enter the Henry Ford Museum and see that damn (Oscar Meyer) weinermobile parked by the front entrance.

Well, at least they are trying to unwind the Ewanick era. It seems like their marketing structure is an inordinately complex situation in general.

I did have to laugh at the "Find New Roads" slogan. So we're going back to McCann, and they are giving us a new corporate slogan that is....the old Saab slogan they produced. :lol
