This is not a "poor me" post, but as I write this I am spending the night in a chair in my wife's hospital room following a full day of surgery for breast cancer. This follows five months of grueling (for her) chemo, and weeks ahead of radiation.

i am lucky. Not once since diagnosis has she complained or even cried. (Wish I could say the same)

My point is make sure the females in your life are getting regular check ups. My wife has no family history, and actually was just a little late on her annual exam. I am cautiously optimistic for a wonderful outcome. But, this is truly crappy stuff and tough on your kids.

Cancer touches us all no matter our circumstances. I will keep your wife's full recovery in my thoughts and prayers and shout triumphantly with you as she kicks its you know what. It is a helpless feeling when it is happening to the ones you love. My wife is five years cancer free from having her right lung removed from a carcinoid tumor. (Lung cancer, although neither of us have ever smoked a day in our lives or come from smoking homes.) Since the day we discovered she was diagnosed with cancer our lives have forever changed. She is my hero as I am positive your wife is yours. God's grace to you both.

Terry, really sorry to hear that. Best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery from our family to yours.

My most positive thoughts and prayers go out to both you and your wife.

Take Care, Steve

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. Tertiary care medical care centers usually offer the most hope and protocols. ER, PR, HER2neu and sentinel nodes have changed the prognosis greatly over the last 10 years. Oncotype DX (if she's a candidate) is a great adjuvant test for prediction.

Best wishes and Godspeed to you and your wife.

Sending all good thoughts and prayers to your wife, you and your children.

It sure sounds like you married a wonderful and strong woman.

I know she appreciates your love and compassion and devotion.

Hoping the bumpy road is getting smoother and so very glad you have each other.

My wife is a 7 year ovarian cancer survivor. Spent many a night sleeping on a cot in a hospital room when she was admitted for abdominal surgeries etc. My prayers to you, your wife, and your family.

Guys, thanks for the kind words and others of of consult ( which I may take you up on.)

Ovarian is tough stuff. The seven year mark bodes well for the future . We wish you well.

NEVER take your wife/girlfriend for granted. Besides putting up with our car fetish, they are often what gets us through the tough times. Sometimes we don't realize it until something goes haywire.

Now, enough of my sissy emails, lets get back to things that matter like defective gauges . :)

Wishing her the best. If I can be of help (answering questions about radiation treatment - my specialty) don't hesitate to PM me

Sorry to hear. Wishing you both good fortune and a speedy recovery going forward.

Terry, I echo all the previous sentiments and well wishes. I wish you both many happy and healthy years together.

Paul

So sorry to hear what you are both going through. Thanks for the timely reminder about appreciating what we have. Best of wishes to you.

Man, that is really huge thing of you to express your emotions here.
I love the way the GT owners becomes like brothers in these situations.

I really hope and wish you two all the best !!
One thing that I have learned since my father got very bad after his brain tumor
and that is to always stay positive and smile around him. That really lights him up !!

Hope she recovers super fast.

Terry. Will put you and your wife on my prayer list. I know it's tough for both of you. My wife and I have very close friends who just completed her chemo in mid-Dec and then she had double mastectomy in mid-Jan. Drs say her tests are very good so we are very thankful. Will be praying your wife is cancer-free and you, your wife and children have strength and peace. Thanks for sharing, brother.

And another thing- don't forget your skin! Skin cancer is the most common cancer, and all three major forms of it are so curable when detected and treated early. Get a baseline skin exam by your primary care doc, or preferably a dermatologist (not a shameless plug, we are all busier than we want to be already). At the minimum, check your own skin over periodically from head to toe, watching for any new or changing moles, sores that don't heal, or even scabby spots that you think are just dry skin but are always present in sun-exposed areas.
