I have never been into computers enough to spend the extra to have an Apple, but this could very well change my mind;

A number of Dell's high end and business class laptops are made in Austin, TX.

The consumer grade units are all made overseas though.

I am guessing the cost to make here in the USA is becoming favorable again, even if it were not for the greatest reasons.

I go out of my way to buy American. It is harder than I thought.

I love Dell computers, however their new all in one units are expensive for the components that come with them.

Insperion's are consumer grade units, all made overseas. There is significant markup in the pricing to allow for discounting...

Lattitudes are business grade units with metal chassis, easy serviceability and docking provisions, onsite support and mostly assembled in the US. Again, retail price is inflated as even small corporate clients get 25%, large clients 50% and sometimes more.

"the world is flat" is a great book, highly recommend it, regarding globalization, outsourcing, offshoring, etc....
