There is a rumor going around that they have closed ordering for now on the 2013 GT500. Is this true or false:confused

NO! Dealers are only allowed a certain amount of allocation. Because some dealers have already sold all the GT500s they can order the salesmen will lie and say no one can order more when the truth is that just their dealer can not order more GT500s. Salesmen would rather sell you something else than send you elsewhere for the car you want....

Hmmm, i wish that was the case!

Nope.

I can tell you they are more than 3 months out on orders though.

Is it true that Shelby actually does the scheduling for production runs of the GT500?

Jeff

Shelby (as in SAI) doesn't have anything to do with the current GT500.

Meaning I wish that the rumor was true. That would have made mine worth a little more!

I read today some speculation that the 2014 model will be the new design in order to time it with the 50th anniversary. Maybe an extended run of 13's so they can call the new model a 2014 1/2 ?

I have a feeling Ford set up the early production for a reason. MY 13 in winter/spring 12, MY 14 in winter/spring 13, and MY 15(redesign) for April/May 2014. Very much like the 64 1/2 debut in the summer of 64.

That is how it was hypothesized (with the exception of which MY was called which). That would make the second MY run of the current design a short run.

There is also talk of a lower number 2013s being made than usual. I believe the totals being thrown around were 4000+/- vs other years of over 5000. Any truth to that?

Looks like another misinformed salesman. I think his zone rep. has been feeding him this info.
